Save The World | Construction Waste Management
The Earth is home to billions of species of plants and animals that provides almost everything we need. It's not just that, she is the owner of incredible marvels with their own value and beauty in each and every corner.
But with the increase in human population and advancement of technology, the impact on nature is also increasing. From deforestation to pollution, we are causing heartbreaking damage to the Earth and hurting the balance of natural systems. So, it's our responsibility to play our role to hand over this beautiful creation to the next generation. Thank you very much, @irawandedy for bringing up Save the World Contest to increase this awareness.
As everyone is talking about reforestation, reducing Carbon emissions, using renewable energy sources, etc, I thought to share the things we are doing in the construction industry in order to reduce the environmental impact of construction projects for a sustainable future.
Why construction waste management is important?
Well, you see construction projects everywhere. It's a never-ending process in the world. So, it's very important to properly manage the waste generated from them. For sure, it's helpful for the company to save thousands of bucks. And the main thing is this generated waste like concrete, steel, bricks and other building materials are made using massive amounts of natural resources. So, this will help to reduce the landfills generated from the waste and also reduce the demand for new materials conserving natural resources.
The actions that were taken
Well, usually follow the 3R concept, Reduce, Reuse and recycle, most of the time. It's highly applicable in our day-to-day lives life also.
Reduce
- So, our main target is to reduce waste generation on the site. From our side, careful planning and coordination are done when quantifying and ordering materials. And in the site with close supervision and regular meetings material usage is optimized. With the economic situation of the country, there is a material shortage as well. So, this practice is essentially needed to conserve natural resources.
Reuse
- This is the main thing we have to strictly follow, in every step possible.

We mainly use plywood, and timber as Formwork materials. But by using the above elements the wastage is minimum, and we can use them for the entire project and maybe for another one.

Concrete is the main element in the construction industry. Even though we take serious care, it's difficult to order the exact quantity. So, excess concrete can be effectively used for other activities. I can tell hundreds of reusing occasions, but I don't want to be a pain in the ass. If you are interested to know leave a comment.
Recycle
This is a concept everyone knows. We can recycle concrete, wood, paper, brick even steel. We need to separate them nicely and deliver them to the organizations.
Form of attention from the government and the community around you
Actually, this concept is highly monitored at least in the construction industry. And there is a nice thing, that we can win awards for keeping the project according to the green building standards. Construction waste management is a crucial part of it.
We maintain a monthly record of our contributions for this and shared it with the client and other relevant stakeholders. There is even a safety and environmental officer to monitor the progress.
Conclusion
So, we should take this matter as a serious issue as we can't go beyond the limits of nature. One or another it takes control. So, it's our responsibility to save this and get used to sustainable procedures in order to preserve them for future generations!!!
