  • Mummy see that ice-cream. I like it and I want you to buy it for me.
  • My mummy bought me a new toy. See it here. I will not give you one.

  • Bitter Bitter full stop, comma theta post. When you see me on the road, don't call me again.

  • Give me your toy, please. I will not give you one. "If you don't give it to me, I will not be your friend again." Okay, collect the toy. I hope you'll still be my friend. "Yes, I will.".

These are memories of my childhood. I can't forget a bit of them because they form part of who I am. Reflecting on the joy of childhood and the love, care, and warmth from my parents gives me a lot to think about. If you're sick, you'll be taken good care of. You'll eat anything you wish to eat.

If you get hurt, you'll be comforted. Such isn't outright seen in adulthood. Not everyone gives a damn if you've eaten or not. Now to my childhood life. I have lots of stories to tell.

Did you enjoy your childhood?

I don't need to think twice before answering this. I really enjoyed my childhood and sometimes wish I could go back to that life. I miss the play, the food, friends, and love. My parents weren't as restrictive as most parents are today. We were allowed to play with other children, and that's practically what makes childhood very interesting and less boring.

IMG_20240606_230814.jpg

When you get to play from morning until night, you feel that sense of socialism, mental growth, and physical body development. If I should tell you that there's no play I haven't played in my childhood, Is it with toys, sand, counters, rubber bands, sticks, matchsticks, bottles, leaves, etc.? I've played with virtually everything on earth. That's what makes my childhood memorable.

The play, the fun, the created memories in school, the warmth of parental care, the extra attention gained when sick, and the like. My childhood wasn't as boring as most people's childhood were. I found every bit of it to be sincere.

What is your first childhood memory?

Since I was a kid, I have usually had both smooth and rough edges. My first childhood memory was when I was in second grade. I started school at an early age, though, but the breakdown of classes in my school can make you finish school at an old age. There's creache, reception 1 and 2, lower kindergarten, upper kindergarten, nursery 1, 2, and 3.

My parents weren't fans of these sections. So they had to make me skip classes because I was highly intelligent. When my school was changed, I became the dullest pupil as I missed those teachers and friends who were people to me.

I got to a new school in primary 2 and was admitted. I've never in my life collected a result with a position attached before. So my being in Primary 2 gave me such an opportunity. When it was party day, I went to school and got my results in a file. The first thing I saw when I opened the result was 1st.....I was just so happy.

My heart started pumping fast and with such joy, I ran home with my neighbour, telling my neighbours I came first in a class of 50. My happiness couldn't just contain my mouth and heart. It was dawned on me when I got home. With the excitement, I hit my forehead on the door and got a wound. How sad? Still with the excitement not minding the pain, showed my mom my result sheet.

I told her I came first in class. She opened the sheet and sighed. She asked me to show her the first and I did. She told me to look well. It was then I saw it was 1st term and not first position. I then wander my eyes to check for position and saw 10th position. My heart skipped.

It was my mom's turn to start laughing with fury. It was the most embarrassing moment of my life but at the same time very funny. I'll remember this day and laugh to myself.

Did you have a lot of friends when you were young?

I was an extrovert when I was young. Everyone knew me to be the best player and racer in school. All my neighbours wanted to be close to me, and for a fact, I was handsome. There's no play I won't be involved in to be sincere. These friends of mine were selected, though. I was just so social and took it upon myself to make other people social.

We were known as best friends in school and at home because we did almost everything together. My friendship extended to their house; I knew every nook and cranny of their house, just as I knew mine. All of these social lives ended when I was embarrassed publicly for exposing my classmates as they cheated in a test. It was then that I entered a very big shell, never to say a word again.

I have been all by myself since 2013–2018. The introverted lifestyle changed a lot of things until people came and pulled me out of my shell and then made me gain back my social life once more. Currently, I still have lots of friends but have no best friend.

Do you think it is better for children to grow up in cities or villages?

I don't think it's any better for children to grow up in villages, even though city life has disadvantages. It's normal for a child to grow up in the village during infancy, but if he or she dwells there and goes to school, he or she perceives the environment and its endeavours. Most times, village life limits one's education, one's way of life, the ability to speak and express oneself in public, and decision making as well.

I know someone who grew up in the village with the mindset that money can't be made easily, except one toils very hard for days before he sees the least. He doubts making money online and views it as a scam. When he sees people dress in normal and current fashion, he's against it because he's not used to that kind of life.

His ascent, too, is of the lowest level, and his decisions are sometimes porous because he's not exposed. Lack of exposure makes it difficult for a village boy to adapt easily when he comes to live in the city.

The city can be disadvantageous when it comes to worldly influence, as most people in the city are bent on an extravagant lifestyle and interact with people of different values and beliefs. So in all, childhood is the best thing that can ever happen to you. Everyone experiences it.

If you have a child you're growing, make sure they enjoy their childhood life, as it does help in growing up. This enjoyment isn't total freedom or restrictions, but careful training, trust, and recreation. I invite @nsijoro, @enamul17 and @kouba01

Thank God you didn't break your leg while running home to show your mum the position you took. It's a bit hilarious where you said she asked you to look well only for you to discover it was 1st term and not actually 1st position. I hope you didn't feel the pains when you discovered it was term and not position and I hope your mum's laughter didn't annoy you too?

You truly had a beautiful childhood experience. I mean, I read every single line and laugh as much as possible. I pray when you get to your old age you'll be able to look back at your youthful age and be happy as much as your childhood days has made you. Here's sending you best wishes.

When I reflect back on my beautiful memories,I usually think of life as a small world. Change is very fast but the memory retains for a lifetime. I can just imagine how youthful you were before adulthood took form. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on my post. I really appreciate.

 yesterday

Your childhood recollection put a smile on my face. This type of incidents occurs in our lives as a result of our rush.

 yesterday

Yeah. Let Me ask. Were your parents restrictive during your childhood or they were free with you?

 yesterday

Your childhood recollection put a smile on my face.

I mean here your first childhood memory.
My parent never put limitation to our life saying that don't do that and this, instead they gave us fully freedom to do what we want.

 yesterday

Ohkay, just wanted an interactive session with you. Wow ...... It's good to know your parents gave you full freedom when you were young compared to what many parents do today

 yesterday

Have a nice day friend.

Give me your toy, please. I will not give you one. "If you don't give it to me, I will not be your friend again." Okay, collect the toy. I hope you'll still be my friend. "Yes, I will.".

The above point reminded me of my childhood, "I won't be your friend again" is a general statement for collecting something from someone, we used it too during our days.

You enjoyed your childhood because your parents gave you relative freedom to have friends and play. This is the beauty of childhood, I recall, I used to play alot, I may play football from morning till evening, my mom will be looking for me, but I wouldn't be found till when it's dark, and I used to fracture my bones because I was a rough player, but I think of my childhood, I had the best.

I told her I came first in class. She opened the sheet and sighed. She asked me to show her the first and I did. She told me to look well. It was then I saw it was 1st term and not first position. I then wander my eyes to check for position and saw 10th position. My heart skipped.

I was laughing all through when I read the above. You took first position my brother, don't mind them😆😆😆😆.

I enjoy reading your write-up.

REGARDS

Thanks for the positive comment. I had crazy childhood memories that are comical when remembered. Interesting to know you also had memories of your childhood. Back then, play was like a physical job to me just as you've said. Anyways, we are all grown now. Miss those days sincerely
