Exploring and Challenging, the writer's fourth commandment

Writing is an adventure where the imagination moves through it to intangible worlds, situations that can be implausible, indeterminate times and actions that escape the classification of probabilities with which normal ones are framed.

Therefore, whoever does it becomes not only a traveller but also a driver of this magical vehicle, which is why he or she must dislodge any brake that limits it.

When you practice any trade or profession you take risks to be successful, you can not literally exercise the theory in practice or vice versa, but both options are nurtured and give space for new hypotheses to come to life, this is what produces the changes and the avant-garde, just to name two.

Those who exercise the profession of writer are not exempt from these processes, in such a way that through the centuries tendencies and genres have been added that have arisen from that insatiable activity of those who escape from what is indicated as current, to rub the lamp and transform themselves into the genius that brings to the fore new creations, which in many occasions derive from the previous ones or are completely new.

Therein lies the essence of the explorer who is not content with what he knows but always wants more, as an adrenaline addict who enjoys the outpouring of his heartbeat and the excitement that this brings.

Whoever has fulfilled the other three commandments must be one more soldier of those daring beings, who have in their essence the right tools to make their inspirations incandescent torches of light, so they are not only willing to explore but also to challenge themselves.

Not to stay in his comfort zone, but to venture into other genres that he does not dominate but that he can learn.

It's common to hear phrases like "My muses are theatrical and dramatic, I don't see myself writing in any other literary genre."

Lapidary assertions that indicate that diversity of ideas is used in one direction only because it is the area where it feels comfortable who makes them.

For those who write it is essential limitations should not exist, since the adventure becomes routine when we are satisfied with what we have learned, it is something like making a university career and as a tree, plant in the teachings that received and not update or as the doctor who does not take any specialization or after taking one forgets about other fields.

The reader will say, it is not bad to be an expert in one thing and not know another and in a certain way he will be right, only that in the letters the adventure ends when we stop exploring or we do it in only one direction.

Great writers who have excelled in a particular genre have also ventured into others, for example, Borges recognized for his narrative also wrote very good Haiku and also poetry.

The noble awards Pablo Neruda, famous for his poetry, also ventured into the narrative and in fact published an interesting novel called "The Inhabitant and His Hopes" in addition to several essays; the also award-winning narrator and for many creator of magical realism, Gabriel García Márquez also wrote poetry and articles for the press, in fact his profession was a journalist and came to literature challenging and exploring.

There should be no limits for those who have the capacity and the magic wand to create fictions, genres are only definitions that should not be limiting obstacles, we must explore and challenge ourselves to grow as a writer.
