An Indoor Game Native To My People.

In this week's Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest, we want you to talk about your people and one of the indoor games they play. Selecting the most popular would be a good idea but you are free to give us any of the local indoor games you prefer.
I will set the pace by introducing you to my people.

The Ibibio People

My people are the Ibibio people of AkwaIbom State, the Ibibio people occupy the south coast of Nigeria. The closest ethnic group to my people are the Efik people of Cross River State, still in the south coast of Nigeria.
The Ibibio people have a very colourful culture and heritage which includes their peculiar language, dressing, food, music, dance, and forms of entertainment including games.
In this post, I will be sport lighting a particular game called "Nsa isong". Though it could be played by anyone, older men tend to enjoy it the more.

Nsa isong

Nsa isong will literally translate as "ground game". Traditionally, the game is made up of 12 shallow pits dug in the ground mostly at the foot of a tree. The pits are arranged in two rows. Each pit starts up with 4 smooth-round stones or any seed. Today the Nsa isong is carved into wood and as always, it is played by in turns by two players. The seeds are picked and distributed around in an anticlockwise direction.
Nsa isong has different modes or style of play which comes with different sets of rules.

Rules of the game

Asinne inang [When it contains 4]
In this style or mode of play, the players wish to get 4 in their pits. After the first round, you can empty any of your pit containing four seeds.

Rules of the game
• You keep distributing the seeds one pit at a time
• where you drop your last seed, you pick up it's content and continue distributing
• Where the last seed stops in an empty pit is where you stop
• The other party has the turn and decide which of his six pits to start from.
• After the first round, any pit that will contains four seeds is emptied by the player who is distributing.
• At the end, the person with the largest collection wins that round
Depending on the number of additional seeds acquired, one player could invades more pits into their opponent's side.

Atere ubok adia [You take where you stop]

In this style of play, the active player takes everything in the pit where the last seed is dropped.

Rules of the game
• You keep distributing the seeds one pit at a time
• Where your last seed stops is all yours
• The other party has the turn and decide which of his six pits to start from.
• At the end, the person with the largest collection wins
Depending on the number of additional seeds gained, a player invades more pits into the opponent's side.

While some players totally depend on mere lock, advanced players employ calculative planning and strategy.
