It's a new week of the Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 45 and this week the topic of discussion says Marriage and it's Environs, I'm not yet married but I guess I have a little input to contribute since I have stayed with my parents and other families that are married.

My write up today will be based on the experience I have gathered while staying at home and also while staying in compounds where other family members live with their wives and children. At the moment I am currently staying in a compound where we have atleast 3 families that are married.

What do you think makes a marriage successful?

One of the things I think makes marriage successful is communication and good relationship. Currently there are 3 different families in my counpound and I can tell you that one of the family is seriously enjoying the marriage whereas the other two are just pushing ahead.

The one I see as a role model for me always have a good communication. You see the man and the woman always having time to talk to their selves. You will never hear them shout or argue about anything. They will always go inside to settle their differences without anyone knowing about it.

Also, submission is one major aspect that helps a marriage grow well. If a woman is submissive to her husband then the family will grow and there will be no issue at all. So in my opinion being submissive and having a good communication with your partner helps the marriage to be successful.

How can couples improve communication in their marriage?

For couples to increase communication in their marriage they need to constantly try to have each others time. When they have each others time they will always talk to themselves sharing their worries and concerns.

As a couple always try to bring out a time for your partner so you both can discuss about the way forward, about romance, about business, about the family etc., there should always be something to talk about.

Both parties should be able to always share with each other what they intend to do, what they are passing through in their work place etc. There should always be something to talk about to remove pressure from both parties.

When you discuss together about the ongoing in your lives then you will notice that it is easy to have your communication improved and you will always want to talk to each other.

Discuss the importance of trust in a marriage.

The importance of trust in marriage can never be overemphasized. Before going into marriage with anyone ensure you trust the person else you may end up getting high blood pressure. You should be able to trust your partner in every relationship because that is the only way to live longer.

Trust issues always break a home so if you have this issue ensure that it is settled before marriage. People with trust issues in marriage always ends up fighting each other everyday and that will make that marriage a war zone.

So trust in marriage is very important and everyone needs to have trust for his partner. This is why we have courtship which is dating before marriage and if you know you can't trust the person please don't go as far as marrying the person.

How do couples navigate conflicts in a healthy way?

When there is any misunderstanding in a relationship, couples are suppose to go into the room together sit and then discuss the issue of concern in a mature way such that a third party doesn't get to know about the issues. When they do this, you will notice that the home grows better and the children also will learn from their parents and will never publicly harrash anyone.

Most of the acts we see today is the act people learn from their parents. If your parents are always solving their issues silently that even you the child wouldn't notice a problem between them then you see you also learn well and will apply same scenario when you also get to that stage.

Do you consider distance between spouses and cultural differences a problem in marriage? Why?

Well, I don't consider distance and cultural difference between spouse as a problem and the reason is because before going into marriage you have already know the culture of your spouse and if for any other reason you also know where the person will be hence those are not suppose to be issues in marriage.

I'm a barrack boy and for a while you will see my father going out for peace keeping sometimes within the country and other times outside the country but that doesn't change the feeling my dad and mother have for each other.

Thank God for the coming of handsets, they always communicate and talk to each other on a daily basis, this makes the bond in the relationship more stronger by the day.
