Steemit Engagement Challenge (SEC)| S12W5- "My Skill Takes Me Up"

Am @saintkelvin17 and am a Nigerian. Is good that the previous engagement challenge ended successfully and lots of steemians participated. This week is a wonderful week with amazing entries and I have decided to take part in contest today. Before I proceed with my entry wish to specially thank @steem4nigeria for creating this contest, the contest theme is very passionate to me.

In your opinion, what do you think a skill is?

If we call skill a verb, skill to me is thereby seen as the act to know or understand a particular business related activity. To learn a skill we need to know about it properly first, them we begin to understand the terminologies and secrets of the skill we are learning.

If we call skill a noun, skill to me is also seen as an ability to technique because they are often acquired or learned and opposed to as abilities which are often seen as innate. Skills is what every average human should acquire because we all need it to survive in life incase we don't get the white collar job we expect to get.

In your country, is a skill or skills needed for daily survival, or is not needed?

Here in my country Nigeria, skills are 100% needed to survive because people hardly get good or white collar jobs in my country. So many youths have graduated from the university yet they don't have jobs. Most great men and women in my country, only give jobs to their family members and friends. In Nigeria you must have connections before getting an appropriate white collar job.

Skill becomes a means of survival if these youths doesn't get a good job. There are few youths who learnt a skill before entering the university and they were using the money they earn in this skill to take good care of themselves and settle their school bills.

The perfect time to learn a school is after graduating from high school because our brains must be calm by that time. Most high school graduates often feel that things will be better in the nearest future so they see skill as something useless, most of them have wealthy parents so they aren't bothered about anything.

Tell us some skills in your country that are so resourceful.

My country Nigeria has so many skills which generates lots of money and they are;

Barbing : This skill is the skill am almost done learning as am trying to be very perfect because I know how to barb already. Barbers makes up to NGN120 a month is we minus 50% of their expenses. I have learnt alot to the extent I know the tricks and benefits in this skill.

Barbing work is always fruitful during weekends as so many people get opportuned to cut their hair at that time, most of them cut their hair on Saturdays so that they can look very good the next day which is Sunday, in the church.

Carpentry : I had intentions of learning this skill but I spent more than 8 months in learning barbing and I began to lose interest in also learning this carpentry. Carpenters do make alot of money in their business because their products are very expensive and good.

Rich men do buy wonderful chairs and other furnitures with a huge amount of money and this gives carpenters the ability to make more profit.

Tailoring : This skill is also a profitable skill that so many young people engage in, I admire the way they sew amazing clothes for people. I learnt sewing in school and it was just the basics of sewing.

Tailors also earn good money most especially when they are given contract to sew the same clothes for a particular organization. We have many skills that are resourceful but I felt like talking about those three.

What skill do you wish to learn and why do you want such a skill

I already have a barbing skill but I which to learn another skill which is a digital one anyway and is known as Forex trading. This skill is very popular in my country and alot of people are into it so I have developed interest in it and I have planned to learn it in the middle of next year.

Steemit itself is a skill because we learn it and earn with it from our home without paying transportation to anywhere or making unnecessary expenses. Right now am glad I have two skills.

Last year I wanted to just survive with steemit buy I told myself that I need to also have an offline skill so that I can earn from it in case anything temporarl happens to steemit. Thanks for reading.
