Hi everyone, taking part in the previous week of the engagement challenge season 2 was quite fun and fascinating. The ideas, knowledge, and everything shared from diverse locations around the globe was worthwhile and brought the all-round growth of contries to limelight in relation to the advancement of Steemit.
The theme for this week's contest in this reputable community "Steem4nigeria" I believe is aimed at improving the popularity of the Steemit and Steem in our various countries. I will be guided by the content hints as I proceed to conveying my feedback.
How well is Steemit known in your Country? Do you think it's popular enough or there is a need for more publicity?
Nigeria - a country with a population of 216 million citizens - is among the countries that have placed an embargo on cryptocurrency. Although commercial banks, as well as their instruments, are banned from supporting cryptocurrency transactions, this however did prevent individuals who are crypto-inclined from taking part in crypto activities.
According to analysis, not more than 35% of the entire Nigerian populace are familiar with cryptocurrencies, their activities, or are involved in them. This is the influence of the ban on cryptocurrency, its related activities as well as platforms - like steemit, which also has mitigated its adoption resulting in low popularity in relation to the population.
Although there are lots of Nigerians on the Steemit platform, it, however, does not correlate to the population of active blogsters. So far, so good, as long as Steemit in Nigeria is concerned, I want to give accolade to @xkool24 (prospective country rep) who introduced me to the platform and has never been a step away, @focusnow for his efforts to sustain the platform in Nigeria through #steemalive, not forgetting @whitestallion, @bright-obias, and @ngoenyi, who have represented our country various capacities.
Finally, Steemit is significantly less popular when compared to other social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc but funny enough it is much more beneficial than them all.
What are the ways you think the promotion of Steemit can be more effective in your Country? This can include special projects you have in mind.
There is no doubt that concerning the government ban on cryptocurrency in the country, cautiousness is required as well as a low tempo so as not to cross boundaries in the course of publicity. Meanwhile, below are the various ways to effectively promote Steemit.
Good Rewards
Every average Nigerian is more interested in what he will get than what he will give. Steemit as we well know is beyond "write and earn" which happens to be one of the greatest motivators that got so many onboarded on the platform. However, many have become inactive due to poor upvotes and rewards. Putting up an article is quite tasking, time-consuming, and requires adequate attention, therefore if these posts or articles are not rewarded properly participants will not be retained in the platform and they might also be a discouragement to others who are yet to get on board. Consequently, it will be good to look out for a way to retain participants via good rewards.
Social Media Platforms
It will be undesirable to say that most centralized social media platforms are bossing a tremendous audience and getting considerable attention which makes it ideal for reaching out to 2/3 of the entire population of Nigeria.
Use of Leaflets & Posters
This is another means that can be employed to promote awareness of the Steemit platform. Printed posters and handbills containing essential information could help circulate the information. Public or strategic such as motor parks, shopping malls, corporate offices, earrings, etc are catchment areas where these posters and handbills could be placed.
Radio Promotions
In a digital world like ours, the radio is a genuine instrument for propagating information and reaching out to a vaster audience at the same time. Jingles are also perfect tools for radio broadcasts which could be used to propel more participants to the platform.
Do you think Steemit would be adopted more in your country if the points you listed above are implemented?
Sure enough, it would be adopted.
The aforementioned strategies are certain to propel the adoption of Steemit in the country provided none is foregone for the other. These mediums are pliable and would be effective because they are being engaged by a good number of people on daily basis. There is a countless number of people on various social media having infinite access to ads, posters, and fliers that can also attract the audience, the radio, now and then has uncountable persons engaging it at the same time.
To this end, I believe that aforementioned are apt to be applied for a remarkable and befitting output.
How have you contributed your quota to the development of Steemit in your community?
Well, I would say I haven't done much but doing my possible best to promote the platform. However, I have been engaging some of my relatives and colleagues in one-on-one conversation and most of them are actively participating on the platform. One good thing is that some of them have equally introduced the platform to some other people who have been onboarded and that's how the system grows.

You are right. Use of radio and social media will help to educate and pass out information regarding the steemit platform to both older and younger citizens and with that we get to see the platform being known and popular. Greetings!

You have highlighted several ways to promote Steemit, but about rewards, here are good rewards on the platform, but it comes with a price, and the price is a hell of work and providing ideas to the growth of the platform, whoever is active on this platform, I guarantee the user vote, because all they see are people who are actually invested in the platform beyond reward so that been said in my own humble opinion is what I think, but the promotional idea will definitely onboard a lot of user if implemented.

Yes, you are right when you said there are alot of Nigerians in this very platform, but even at that there are some part of Nigeria that don't know about steemit and I think the point you listen will go a long way by promoting steem in our dear country nigeria. you have actually written so well my dear friend and I wish you all the best.
