More Communities Options

in Communities Feedback4 years ago (edited)

I am wondering... is there anyone active on Steem who still hasn't tried out Hive communities? If so, would you please let us know why not?

Hive communities are like living organisms, they evolve. Actually we can say they are like small children, asking for feedback all the time.

The more questions you answer them, the more questions they ask... lol (don't mind me here, I'm under the direct impression of my full of energy nieces). That's true, but that's how they learn, make connections, understand the world around and eventually grow.

So, we should provide as much feedback to our communities as possible. That's how we get used to them, that's how issues are discovered and fixed, that's how we can influence their evolution, that's how they grow faster, but most importantly, smarter.

For months already we had the chance to test Hive communities via https://beta.steemit.com. Let me be the first to congratulate @roadscape for the idea to open beta access. The feedback from real users is invaluable.

But we already have another communities beta, to test, to use, to offer feedback: http://beta.steempeak.com.

I don't see this as a competition between Steemit and Steempeak. It's important to have different beta Hive communities open, the feedback as well as different implementations will only be to the greater benefit of the Hive communities.

I helped test Steempeak's beta a short while before being publicly open, and I expect many of the Steempeak regular users will embrace it. Others may find it more to their liking as well. In the end, it's a matter of preference.

I also hope eSteem will have its implementation ready soon. I'm not sure if Busy has plans for it or not yet.

The more the better. But even more than that I'm curious when they will replace the main interfaces. I believe even if others may be ready, Steemit has to set the tone here.

But communities content is growing, and to give just my own feedback here, it's not a great impression to see the "hive-" tags, if you use the main interfaces, and to switch to the beta interfaces just to see what community is that, if you continue to use the main site at all.

Sort:

At first I refused to play the game of communities, but after a while I convinced myself that they're really a good thing and now almost any post that I share is targeted to some community. This is really a Steem improvement that is quite overlooked by many users.

I'm glad you chose to use them in the end. The best quality of communities, in my opinion, is that it puts together people with the same interests, and if you choose the right community to post in, you will see more users interested in your post than a post on your blog.

Exactly. You said it the best way.

Poked around a couple times, but still haven't taken time to understand what they really are or how they really work. May do that later today or sometime tomorrow.

I use @Steempeak regularly. I like it a great deal.

I also hope eSteem will have its implementation ready soon.

@eSteem seems to still be a little buggy occassionally, but I just use it to see replies and comments. I didn't know it was still in beta. I have only used it to post a couple of times, and I beleive they were just photos with a small amount of text.

Ok, would be great if you checked it out.

eSteem has 3 types of apps. One for desktop, one for browsers and one for mobile.

Update: Sorry for the short reply, I was on mobile, after a tiring day.

Sometimes too many choices can be confusing.

One doesn't have to use all.

Is there a reason why it's not implemented inside Steemit? Why it's stilll beta.steemit...?

@Roadscape knows when it will be integrated in steemit.com. Maybe Steemit wants to make a big event SMT+communities launch? Normally communities don't depend on SMT to launch, and I know a few people very anxious to see them launched...
