Participation Post For SEC-S11W1:"The most embarrassing moment of my life as a kid or parent

in Steem Kids & Parents11 months ago
Greetings Everyone, This is SHOHANA From #Bangladesh

There are many embarrassing moments I've faced in my life since my childhood days and many of them are still in my mind. My parents often became the reason of embarrassments and they can't even feel that how the incident has impact on me as a kid.

With the time we can forget those incidents but sometimes recalling them make me feel really worse and embarrassed. Even the moment is already passed. Both parents and kids should understand the psychology and this is not always necessary that you teach your kids by hitting and beating them. As a kid I was the victim of child abuse many times.

👉Have you ever been embarrassed? tell us the scenario and how you felt.

Unfortunately the answer is yes and many times. I was born in a very strict and conservative family and my parents often beat me and my siblings for major and minor mistakes. My parents were short tempered and always deal with us very strictly. I never find my parents as my friend but they were good.

One day my parents took us to a family party and it was in the roof of my father's colleague. Me and my siblings were also there. The kids of my father's colleague was also there. I was playing with them and ran one place to another. The rooftop was little unsecured because a side corner of the roof was left incomplete to make a border so an accident can happen right there.

I was playing and ran to the danger zone or corner of the roof and I could die if I went closer to it. My father somehow noticed it and came to me and slapped me in front of all and I was so embarrassed and hurt. I know he wanted to see me alive and wanted to save me but this could be with love not with the slap.

And this was not my first and last time because here in my society kids are taught with slap, scolding, abusing and beating with sticks and this is such a cruel part that I experienced as a kid though I was not alone but I suffered a lot. I always cried to grow up faster to overcome this cruel treatment.

👉Do you think you deserve the embarrassment or it should have been someone else?

I accept that I was responsible for the embarrassment but the story could be different like my father could tell me once not to get closer to the danger zone or can tell all kids not to play there, slapping me was not the solution so I was feel like abused. I was hurt both mentally and physically. Not other kids were slapped by their father or parents but I was the victim.

👉What have you done to avoid such a scenario from reoccurring?

After that incident I tried not to attend any family party with parents and try to avoid attending any public function with parents though they forced me for it and I tried to keep safe distance from my parents if I attend such party or function. The slap that day was not only on my face but also on my heart.

Oh.. that's just harsh and cruel! 😔 Since he's your father, I won't say what I really want to say. But hey, I've got something to lift your spirits! Check out this hilarious video, guaranteed to bring some laughter back into your day!

Dear friend, I understand you. Similar childhood of mine. Especially my mother was short-tempered and used to slap me, even in the road where other people could see. But my parents were very good people too and I recognise (they always encouraged me in my studies and career and they did all they could for my education): they also didn't want to see me in danger or compromising circumstances. But my mother came from a family where there was a strong military presence and very probably, both my parents come from Jews ancestry (ultra-orthodox in the case of my mother, then converted to Catholicism along various generations). In fact, my mother's behaviour was often the behaviour of a ultra-orthodox Rabbi Jew's daughter (but she was Christian Protestant and my father too: in any way, customs and culture remain). Ancestries culture have a strong influence in everyone's behaviour and temperament.
