EMOTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Physiological changes follow emotions,, or when we are affected by emotions, many physological changes take place in us. For instance, there are changes in the heartbeat, the pulse rate, the blood pressure, the digestive system, and the neurological system's and glands' heightened sensitivity. Numerous physiological and bodily changes are a part of every emotional experience.

  • Emotions are the most subjective and individualised experience. They are sentimental matters, our emotions guide our behaviour. The most individualised experience, emotions vary from person to person. When there are changes in harsh situations, they can vary greatly even within the same person.

  • An impulse towards an action, a behaviour, or an overt reaction, such as the urge to hit, run, or laugh, is a component of an emotional experience or reaction.

  • Emotions can sometimes be misplaced. When someone approaches and insists on doing anything against our will while we're upset, the wrath may soon be directed towards him. Usually, a weak husband vents his rage on his staff instead than his wife.

  • Emotions span a wider spectrum, i.e., they can affect both young and old people. At every level of mental development, they appear.

  • Emotions peak suddenly and decline gradually. Once triggered, an emotion often lingers and leaves behind an emotional mood. We only begin to experience emotions unexpectedly, then they gradually fade away. A man who is angry displays his fury towards everyone, guilty or innocent, and does so for a very long time. A teacher who is enraged by his wife may lash up on defenceless kids who have done nothing wrong.

  • Feelings are at the heart of every emotional experience. There are feelings like wrath, fear, or joy present in every emotional experience or reaction. Feelings of pleasantness or unpleasantness accompany emotion. Different emotions are derived from these two fundamental emotions. Both emotions and feelings are affective experiences.

  • Every emotional experience comes with a constipating impulse. The intensity of this impulse determines how strong a feeling is.   • When we are experiencing emotional excitement, our intelligence, thinking, and imagination are all negatively correlated with our emotions and suffer. The link between emotional experiences and intelligence, thinking, and imagination is thus negative.

  • Emotions come from perception; they are a byproduct of perception. An emotional experience cannot begin unless the necessary stimulus (an object or circumstance) is perceived.

VALUE OR IMPACT OF EMOTIONS

The primary motivators or driving forces behind cognition and behaviour are emotions. They provide vital personality traits as well as zest and spice to life. In actuality, the development of emotions is the source of all human civilisation.

  • Motivation comes from emotions. Emotions drive the excitement of emotions one for a certain deed. We can accomplish our aim with the support of love, fear, wrath, and curiosity. Classical tales provide proof of young men giving their life in order to save their loved ones. The student is motivated to study diligently for the exam by a fear of failing.

  • Emotional development is necessary for physical wellness. Physical health won't be sound if emotional health isn't strong. Emotions cause glands to become overactive, heart rate, pulse rate, and breathing to speed up, nerves to stiffen up, and digestion to become affected. They make people uneasy and confused. Lack of sleep, restlessness, headaches, chronic exhaustion, insomnia, and loss of appetite can all be brought on by ongoing emotional tension. A person who can control their emotions is ideal for good physical health.

  • Emotions are a foundation for mental wellness as well. Mental disorders like psychoneurosis, psychosis, morbid phobias, obsessions, compulsions, manias, schizophrenia, and other mental abnormalities are brought on by improperly managed emotions. Numerous problems, disputes, and complexes could develop.

  • In social life, emotions are important. One must be emotionally mature and in-control if they want to make friends and receive social approval. The general consensus is that people in society like someone who is emotionally stable and mature and who can control their rage. However, society does not approve of emotionally immature people who are unable to manage their emotional responses. Generally, he causes difficulties for both himself and the wider community.

  • The raw ingredient of character is often described as emotions. Desirable emotions should be developed for a healthy development of character and personality. As part of the training of emotions, feelings are formed. Therefore, it is necessary to teach and train emotions. Emotional exhaustion and stress might lead to a timid or combative attitude.

  • Emotions play a role in learning as well. Learning suffers from tense emotionality and distress, but positive emotions like joy, pleasure, delight, hope, encouragement, affection, feelings of worth-whileness, and satisfaction enhance or motivate learning and assist the pupils concentrate better on studies. As a result, it is clear that emotions are crucial to both the course of our lives and the formation of our personalities.
