It's been a while since I posted the food I prepared. And now is the time to do so after a while. I prepared a delicious and mouth-watering yam and beans porridge for the family. It was meant to be eaten as lunch and anyone that wishes to repeat it as dinner might do so.

Though we like eating swallow in the afternoon but I don't have soup at home and I didn't want to prepare it today. That's is I went for this. So please, just read, learn and even practice if you can to learn how I prepared my own style of yam and beans porridge.

From left to right

  1. Beans. I already had this at home. I used only 2 cups that was remaining

  2. Onion, turmeric, ginger, garlic, Aiden fruit, knor cube, traditional nutmeg, fresh pepper and palm oil

  3. Dry fish. My friend from my workout group gave me those fishes for free as gift on Monday this week when I visited her house. She showed me her fish farm. It is a very big farm and she also showed me their sachet water factory though it is still about to kick off. So I used just 1 one the fishes to prepare this food

  4. That is crayfish. A handful of it from the one I have at home.

  5. A tuber of yam that I used. I bought this from the market yesterday when I was going home at 1000 naira who is equivalent of 9 steem.

  6. Little pumpkin from my farm.

Preparation

I first of all selected the beans and parboiled it before cooking it. After it boiled, I washed it and then cooked it till it softened.

Then I added the yam that I already peeled, cut into pieces and washed.

I covered the pot for the yam to cook before adding other ingredients.

As the beans and yam were still cooking, I got other ingredients ready. I peeled the ginger, garlic and turmeric, washed thoroughly. Washed the pepper and onion. Then pounded them manually. I pounded the pepper, ginger, garlic and turmeric to paste. Then I added the onion and crayfish and pounded everything together. And added it as soon as the yam softened

Then I mixed them together and covered for a little while. Then I added the palm oil and the seasoning cube along with salt to taste.

I finally washed the pumpkin leaf, cut it and added it as the last thing to the pot. Wow! The food is ready!

I then dished it out for consumption, just take a look at the cover image.

This food is packed with a whole lot of nutrients. Yam provides energy, fiber and vitamin. While beans provides protein and helps to control appetite along with other nutrients. How about the natural ingredients? It might interest you to note that they provide countless nutrients and health benefits. You may want to google these ingredients for knowing sake. As a mother, I don't just prepare food but make sure it is something that will be of health benefits to my kids. Being a parent entails that I care about the health of my kids to the extent possible and this food has just done that. Expect more in my next entry.

Thank you all for going through. Hope it is helpful.
