The Diary Game 21/03/24 || Exciting season of massive addition of new born goats to our farm.
There is nothing as exciting and compensating as seeing your effort pay off... This week and the previous really made me happy as more livestock were added to our farm...the goat session to be precise.
I've watched their number increase over time from when they were less than 10 till the present statistic. I know they can be very stubborn, oh! this trait of theirs is inherent, I really thought I won't forgive them for the stress they have put me through in the past few months not until they decided to make my heart melt by giving birth to their young ones without complications.
The latest of all the mother goat that gave birth really got me so happy because it broke the jinx of dropping two...this time it dropped three (3) and it the very first to do something like this amongst all the female goats. I believe she has just heralded what will be the norms going forward.
The other goat that made my week is one of our young goat that just dropped for the first time. I used to hear that a first timer doe would actually start with one, how this one jumped the norm to do the unusual really surprised me.
It wasn't looking so big during pregnancy and I wasn't expecting too much but then it gave me a pleasant surprise that endeared me to it. This particular goat seems to be mild and less troublesome. I call her the P.R.O in the goat session. Always the one leading the cry and call for food each time am sighted.
And then the final one that dropped last week. Mehn! This goat...hmmm. What do you know about hairy black goat? Well if all you know does not include the fact that they are extremely stubborn, then you need to go and observe them over and again.
I mentioned earlier that I was finding it hard to forgive my goat for the stress they put me through...I was actually being particular about this black she goat. I won't be wrong to say she is the very definition of stubborness.
It takes delight in leaping over the wooden fence used to confine them and go into people's farm destroying their crops and bringing debts upon us. No matter how much we try to reenforce the fence, it still would find a way around it...creating rooms for others. It the ring leader.
I wouldn't completely blame it, I observed it was always being bullied in there, so outside the goat pen is where it find solace.. but guess what, pregnancy humbled it, it became the calmest and loving goat amongst other. The same goat we tried all gimmicks on just to make it stay put, one of it is what you see on it neck...
She dropped last week toward the weekend. The kids looks lovely but then I've got fears. I hope it won't resume it stubbornness and mischievous activities. The worst fear is that it doesn't pass it to these kids because what! I can have 3 of it kind in that farm.. they would weary me.
Nevertheless, am grateful to God for these livestock. Seeing them around gives me so much joy. Sometimes just observing and staring at them make me forget whatever punishment I had in mind for those that trespassed. They are just so lovely and beautiful to behold in their numbers.
Let me wrap it up here friend, thank for reading through my diary which captures the major event of this week and the previous. Am grateful.
