RE: SEC17 WK:#6: My Family, My Pride!

Let's say she wanted it as natural as possible. She also played with the thought to give birth at home, but it was her luck to go to the hospital since the placenta didn't come out. She lost 2½ L blood afterwards and if we didn't had clinical personal around us she would be dead now. So we were really lucky in the end to get such professionals (part from the midwife at the beginning, but when it was time she did a great job too).

A midwife cocktail is a drink for when it's too much over the date, that the baby starts to come out - i don't know the exact term in english, in german it's called a Hebammencocktail.

She wanted to have me on her side, she wanted that i take care of her and make this experience. And i'm really happy she took that decision since i really wanted to be part of the birth and make this experience.

There are moments of joy for her too. But it's also exchausing since it's a full-time job for her. She is working as public dependentend so she could choose between the obligated 5 month, 2 years with only 30% of her sallary (and only 30% for the pension) or 3 years at home without income but with 100% for the pension. So she choosed the 2 years since we can't depend on only one income, or yes, we could i guess, but the money will be consumed only for the variable and fix costs. So no entertainment, nothing we could buy for joy or something, 3 years never went out eating or delivering. So we would must be really strict with the income. But she want to spend as much time as possible with him, which i agree with.

Thanks for your reply :)

It's nice the option is given to stay home that long with a part of the salary. I doubt there will be a pension in the future but if hopefully hers is worth more than my 2 person bag if french fries at the age of 72 if I ask for it.

I never heard of that cocktail (all midwives and doctors in the family si grew up between oregnancies and ilnesses and took bloidpressure, checked urine, and gave meds as a child...also a med (some droos) to remove the placenta). Only one (natural) thing comes to mind if it comes to starting labour although it's easy (the break the water) and in hospitals they give an infusion to start labour.

It's good to hear everything worked out well for you two and I hope her health will not be affected on long term by giving birth.
Enjoy the lovely family and the bit of luxury you have.
