Pollination of flowering plants is the first step in the cycle of sexual reproduction, followed by the fertilisation and development of zygote; this method changes the flowers of plants into fruits that enclose the seeds.Pollen grains and ovule are the main sex cells which is the female and the male are involved in the formation and development of a zygote in flowering plants.

Pollen grains are haploid cells consisting of;

1.The exine which is outer membrane
2.The intine is a dense matrix and also
3.Central nucleus.

The zygote formed in flowering plants,is formed through the processes below;

1.The pollen grains absorbs sweet liquid on stigma which swells and germinates after pollination.

2.Pollen grain outer coat which is exine splits and then the pollen tube comes out and down inside the style.

3.The pollen grain has only one nucleus at the initial stage but later on,the nucleus tends to divide into two tube nucleus which are large and a small generative nucleus.

4.The generate nucleus then divides to two male nuclei and the male nucleus is also the male gamete.

5.The end of the pollen tube burst after the pollen tube grows into ovule through micropyle,then the two male nuclei are then released in the embryo sac.

6.The male nucleus of one fuses with ovum for the formation of a zygote,in which the zygote later develops inside the embryo and we can call this process the first fertilisation.

7.The second fertilisation which occurs in plants happens as a result of when the second male nucleus combines with the secondary nucleus for the formation of a triploid cell known as the endosperm nucleus,which produces endosperm in the followers of plants.
