What is population

Population can be define as the total number of human being who are living in the same environment, area or place. And it can also be define as the total set of peoples who share something in common such as race, ethnicity religion etc.

Nigeria is the largest population in Africa because it consist of different tribes and languages, population of a country usually determine development and growth of such country. Current population of Nigeria is estimated as 221,112,102 million yet their is no room for improvement, majority of peoples still living in absolute poverty.

What are the basic units of population?

The basic unit of population consist of members in the society, and this include the following:

• Dependent: This consist of peoples who rely on others for their survive such as toddler and aged group.

• Working class: They are government workers who are working in any government organisation or private agency in order to provide shelter for themself and their family.

• lastly, Sex: Consist of male and female who are living in a geographical area or place.

Their are numerous factor that contribute to the growth of population in a negative way. In fact if adequate measure is not taken it will affect the economic development of a country.

• Infant mortality rate

• Migration

• Birth rate

• Polygamy

√ Infant mortality rate: This refers to decrease in number of children or infant before they attain one year old.

√ Immigration: When peoples move out of their country can reduce the population growth and this is called (emigration), when peoples enter another country or nation (immigration) can cause increase in population.

√ Birth rate: Increase in child bearing can affect the population growth of a country. At end of the day, Available resource cannot be enough for the citizen of the country to cater for themself.

√ Polygamy: This is normally happen in Northern part of the country where husband marry many wife as possible, this will have negative effect on societal development and population will also increase unexpectedly.

√ War: Many peoples die during war process as a result of this it will decrease in population growth of a country.

What are the possible problems of over-population?

Overpopulation is the increase in number of peoples who are living in a geographical location, when total number of peoples exceed the available material resources for survival such as shelter, food, transport and healthcare. Overpopulation will also worsen the quality of life of human being because to get what they needs or want may become difficult.

• Migration

• Pandemics and Epidemics Outbreak

• Child abuse

√ Poverty: This occur when peoples do not find available job to take care of their family, This will now lead to negative impact on the standard of living even for some to eat three good meal in a day is a big problem.

√ Unemployment rate: If number of population is higher than job seeking peoples can contribute to high crime rate and other illicit act such as violence, arm robbers, gambling etc.

√ Migration: Movement of peoples from one place to another especially from rural to urban area can contribute to overpopulation of urban area or city.

√ Pandemics and Epidemics Outbreak: Overpopulation can lead to emergence of disease outbreak such as Malaria, Typhoid, Hiv etc.

√ Child abuse: This is normally happen where some parents used their children as an house help in a rich man house.

Explain at least three ways in which population can be controlled.

Population can be best control if we apply this following solution.

• Married men and women must adopt family planning method, they can only do this to control the numbers of children they will give birth to.

• Government should also reduce the number of peoples coming into their country, those peoples can contribute to social unrest to the country.

• Inform and educate members of the community about bad effect associate to increase in population.

Total numbers of registered users in this platform is 1,238,717 million.

You can see that their is improvement, peoples register on a daily basis without paying any dime.

Over-populated or underpopulated, which one is better?

I prefer underpopulation because citizen will have access to basic amenities and other good things of life. Their will be available job opportunity for peoples in order to cater for themself and their family.

In addition, Poverty will also reduce drastically and life of the family can be at peace. Individuals can also have full access to any quality of life, traffic or urbanisation congestion can also reduce to the extent that citizen can enjoy their life to the fullest.

Conclusion
