Good afternoon friends, today I share with you the beginning of a new series of problems where we must make use of our ability to deduct to solve each of the riddles and problems that arise.
The logic games are all those that can be solved by pure deduction. In some enigmas, where it is necessary to correlate certain characteristics (name, surname, profession, age, etc.), the use of multiple-entry diagrams is proposed. In this publication that I share with you, I explain how we can solve a simple case.
Tea for three.
Three friends meet for tea. Deduce the data for each one.
- Beatrice is not Garcia.
- López is a secretary in an office.
- The actress's name is Claudia.
- Master is not Mendez.
(In these games there are not two variables with the same feature. That is, here we have three women with different names and surnames and with different jobs.)
I am going to explain step by step how is the resolution of this type of problems, in such a way that later you will be able to solve them by yourself.
Solution.
In the diagram we are going to indicate with a cross (X) the relationships that do not exist or have no value and that are eliminated and with a circle (O) the correct relationships.
According to Clue 1 we place an X at the intersection of Beatriz with García.

Clue 2 gives us a correct relationship: López is a secretary; We put an O in the intersection of secretary with López. If you mark an O in a sector, all the boxes of its horizontal and vertical must be filled with X as they are eliminated. In this case, in the ACTIVITY - LAST NAME sector, we place the X in the boxes secretary - García, secretary-Méndez, actress - López and teacher - López. The scheme looks like this:

Enter the data for clues 3 and 4 into the diagram. If you followed my instructions, the diagram should look like this:

In the ACTIVITY - LAST NAME sector, two correct relationships are now determined: teacher - García and actress - Méndez. You enter the corresponding O's. Note that Claudia is the actress and that the actress is Mendez, therefore Claudia is Mendez. So you get another correct relationship. You are in a position to complete the solution. Compare your answer with mine.
And here we have the data or results obtained.

Now I want to invite you to exercise your brain a little and to deduce, according to the steps described above, the following problem that I propose.
Sentimental thieves.
By having good feelings, these thieves did not steal what is left at first but other things that they became fond of at the time. But they were caught anyway. He discovers the correct relationships from the following clues, but not before checking that the door of his house is properly closed.
- The one who stole only one toy entered the building at the same time as the one who stormed the 3rd floor in search of a television.
- The one who wanted a computer stole from a higher floor than the thief who took the medal.
- In the elevator, the policeman was dazzled by the photo of Marilyn Monroe that the thief had stolen from the 3rd floor.
- The one who wanted to steal money did not even go to the corner.
