Contest entry on My Favourite Mathematician, Pythagaros the Samos by @abduljawad002

in Zero to Infinity3 years ago (edited)

Hello once again fellow steemians,
Is a real funny story how I hated maths at first and what happened to change my mind into loving maths even at this point in time. Not to bore you with details, I will just cut straight to the chase to talk about my favourite mathematician, my idol, and mentor Pythagoras of Samos. He was an ancient Greek philosopher and the founder of the infamous pythagoreanism. Pythagoras made many mathematical and scientific discoveries including the Pythagoras theorem, the Pythagoras tuning, the theory of proportions, the five regular solids amongst many more. And I must admit that most of his theories have been impactful in to this era.

The Pythagorean Theorem

The discovery of The Pythagoras theorem led to prove the existence of numbers that could not be expressed as rational numbers. It is basically to determine the distance between two points.
The Pythagorean Theorem is a statement in geometry that shows the relationship between the lengths of the sides of a right triangle – a triangle with one 90-degree angle. The right triangle equation is a2 + b2 = c2. Being able to find the length of a side, given the lengths of the two other sides makes the Pythagorean Theorem a useful technique for construction and navigation.

Pythagaros learned in babylon about somthing called the harmonic which inscribes to the three basic means which are arithmetic, geometric and subcontrary.

In conclusion am just enthused with Pythagoras of Samos and I just want to say I have learnt a great deal from his theories and one of the main reason I love mathematics.

Thank you for oppoturnity to write on my mentor.
