From a distance, he found that the place was very crowded, but all the people were sitting very quietly on the chairs arranged in rows, as if they were not in a hurry or as if they wanted to spend their time sitting on the chair forever.

Some chairs were empty too. There was a cabin-like glass room for every hundred chairs. It was the "Enquiry Centre" and it was written in bold letters on the top of the room in all the languages of the world, and directions were written in various languages at various places in the hall. There was a manual book on each chair, which had all kinds of information and instructions related to that place written on it.

He had entered this hall from a big lift and had sat down after seeing an empty chair. On the three chairs behind his chair, two women were sleeping with their heads in their laps. He thought that these women had probably been here for a long time and had fallen asleep due to tiredness.

He diverted his attention from those women and was reading that big manual book absentmindedly. He was sure about his destination because he wanted to go 1000 years in the future.

He was thinking all this when a very sweet but mechanical voice of a girl echoed in the hall, "Remembering your past life is prohibited here. 500 years will be added to the account of the person who tries to do so." On hearing this voice, he stopped thinking about his past life and started reading the manual book.

He read in the manual book that years are added to the person's account as a penalty for every mistake. The person is sent forward or backward in time based on that scene.

It had been two hours since he came to this hall. In this time neither any decision related to him nor any new person came on the chair around him. He was sitting on that chair in a state of blankness, trying not to think of anything, when a slim, nervous person came and sat on the chair to his right.

The newly arrived man was busy reading the manual book. He was thinking of talking to him but he was not able to understand what to talk about. After a long time, he asked while looking at him, “Brother, where do you want to go?

"I don’t know! Anywhere, what difference does it make?" That man sounded so areless.

He laughed to himself as he found that man’s words very strange. “In today’s era, does anyone go anywhere without proper planning?"

He was thinking all this when the voice of that girl echoed in the hall again. “Remembering your past life is prohibited here. Whoever tries to do so will have 500 years added or lessened from his journey.”

After hearing the voice, he told the new person about all the rules and regulations of this place, which he had himself read in the manual book. While he was telling him about the manual book, he was afraid that he might ask him about his family. Or he might ask him where he wanted to go.

Ever since his wife had gone to Mumbai for office work with her boss and had not returned home, he knew that she was in Delhi with her boss. He wanted to run away from present time to the future so that he could start his life again.

The other one was sitting quietly and watching the notifications flashing on the screen in front of him. The names of newcomers in many languages were appearing very quickly on the screen, and many notifications, like information about those who were going back and forth in time.

He remembered that when his first book was published, his wife was very happy. She took him in her arms and said, "Now you have become a writer. Can anyone believe that the marketing head of such a big corporate company is such a great writer too?"

Once again, the mechanical voice of that girl echoed, "Remembering your past life is prohibited here. Whoever tries to do so will have 500 years added or subtracted to his account."

He got a little annoyed and again sat on the chair and started turning the pages of the manual book. Finally, his turn came, and he reached in a time 1000 years ahead.

Here he saw that a mad race was going on. Big companies have tied engines to workers' feet in the name of amenities and facilities. They run, run at double the speed. They leave home in the morning, and by evening they reach so far away from home that it becomes difficult to return home.

He was tired of changing his house every day. He had to change himself every day. He was running a rat race because he had no alternative. He had signed an agreement that he would run and not be afraid of getting lost.

But the truth was that he was afraid, but still he kept running. He ran like everybody else. While sleeping, his feet were tied to his eyes. He ran even in his dreams. After falling down from his dreams due to exhaustion, he again ran for his survival in the future world.

He also started running and ran every day, but one day he wanted to stop.

One day, when everyone was running, he secretly took out a photo of his wife from his purse. Yes, the same photo, which may have become blurred, but the lipstick on her lips was still red. Bright red, so red that it can stop him from running in any race.

Now he wanted to stop that rat race, come back and kiss that red lipstick, and sleep next to her. Yes, now he wanted to come back to the present age.

Thank you! Since I have already resigned from my job and spending most of my time at home I'm enjoying it. After working for so long in the corporate world I know how the cookie crumbled.

Most people remind their spouse when they become weary from running. They are so focused on acquiring more that they forget about everything else in their lives. Some people might not even realize they are exhausted until they are buried in the soil. Fortunately, he realized that his running was not beneficial. Good story, read with excitement.

Sorry to say but in this case, it was the other way round. This was his wife who made him run into the time with her infidelity yet he loved her and wanted to come back.

Upvoted. Thank You for sending some of your rewards to @null. It will make Steem stronger.

Going 1000 years in the future must be filled with alt of big dreams which one needs to stay focused to achieve. Your story reminded me of the day I went to a public park, and noticed how almost all the passengers who had booked a trip began sleeping I was scared to enter the coaster bus, thinking that the driver eventually slept off while driving, without knowing that the driver was very active and ready to pilot the bus. Some people fall asleep in a public place because of the streets they have passed through. Thank you for the invite and good luck to you.

Wow, 1000 years in the future, I can't imagine how the human lifestyle at that time, maybe teleportation has become a transportation system.

We are talking about time travel bro!

This story a beautifully captures the timeless quest for a meaning and connection amidst the relentless rush of the life. A poignant reminder that true fulfillment often lies in the cherishing what we once had.
best of luck.
