Introduction

Life in recent times as we soldier on in this perilous season has been very challenging. The way of life has really changed due to the ongoing pandemic which has ravaged the world leaving us gasping for survival. The Nigeria economy is no different from the hardship brought by the pandemic as her citizens are already agitating.

One may not categorically talk about success in the year 2020 without mentioning some turbulent times and challenges except this success is measured before the Covid-19 era. I will want to categorize my article on these following sub-headings:

• The Way You Save Money
• The Way you Manage Time
• How You Stay Happy

The Way You Save Money

I will say I learnt this very well right from my start-up point as a man. Saving has been part of me and this happens by default. I have put up different measures on how to save some stipends no matter how little the inflow is. Kindly find below the different saving measures I under-took:

• Automatic Bank Schedule payments: This is an instrument that allows a bank mobile-app to debit certain amount of money on a specific date into a recipient/savings account. This has been helpful as it wholly resolves the issues of doubts and unwillingness during savings. Also note this, to maintain 100% discipline the recipient bank should not have an express access for withdrawals (Avoid getting an debit-card and deactivate all mobile transfers associated to the account). Let withdrawals be solely made from direct contact with the office banking systems.

• The Use of Traditional Saving Box(PIGGY BANK): It may sound primitive but it is also a good source of savings. It is target driven for specific projects and tasks ahead. When in use, I open it once every year. This is after it has achieved its purpose. I make sure I drop a certain amount of money in cash into it everyday. For example, when I drop 1000Naira into it everyday, this gives me 365,000 naira for the whole year (which may resolve house rent payment and all cost implication during the yuletide season).

• Third Party contributions: These are workplace/marketplace contribution outfits which allows one to register and participate in its yearly contributory schemes. They are helpful in resolving yearly and early purchase of food items and other necessary household items as the case maybe. It has been reliable and proven effective.

The Way you Manage Time

The main aim of good time management is to prioritize and achieve a good lifestyle balance we desire. This requires the right attitude and commitment to set goals and targets. For effective time management I try as much as possible to stay organized for the day by putting up a list - "To-do lists". This allows for efficiency and effectiveness of my daily activities without loosing track of any event. It also guarantees high quality work and not quantity work activities.

In putting up my "to-do-list", I make sure I prioritize their importance. There are some that may be important but not urgent and some both urgent and important. Some task may be urgent due to its timeline but not important at that point, etc...See a task chart below that can also guide you:

• Urgent and important Task
• Not urgent but important Task
• Urgent but not important Task
• Neither urgent nor important Task

To effectively manage time one needs to plan ahead.

Mark Twain said, “If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.”

How You Stay Happy

• Exercise - It is said that exercise releases the good mood endorphins. Most time after a workout, there is this kind of relief that fill you in. It creates the right frame of mind at every point. Each time I go to the field of play (football) activities during weekends, I get back home excited and more rejuvenated.

• Dedicate a little time to helping others - This is what brings unlimited happiness to me. No matter how small the gifts may look, what matters is the heart that gives. I have only prayed for more arms to reach out.

• Staying with Family - This is every man's source of Joy. He draws from this well of comfort each time he's home with the exclusive smiles, love and embrace from his children and wife.

• Outing with family or Friend - This is an outdoor event that solidifies the family reunion
