Weekly CRICKET Review - LVIII | Super Eight Gang
Hello, fellow Cricket Enthusiast,
You already know I am sharing a weekly wrap-up of what is happening within the Cricket community. It's the 58th edition now.
The 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup has already started in the Caribbean islands and the USA. With the increase of teams up to 20 and the USA setting their foot, we see an interesting future ahead in one or another. So, Let's dig on!
- Last week, I discussed the tournament update and some interesting facts.
Even though the pitches in the USA seem a bit odd, but eventually those low-scoring matches became more thrilling. The rain ruined the party a bit with 4 washed-out matches, but anyhow it didn't do much to the final result.
So, what happened after 38 out of 40 Group stage matches? Let's see.
So as you see, USA, Eng, SA, WI (gROUP 02) and Aus, Ind, Afghanistan, Ban (Group 02) have advanced to the Super 08, playing in 02 groups.
This year, all Pakistan, NZ, and SL were kicked out from the Super stage for the first time and there is no surprise in that as the above 08 teams deserve the place under the circumstances.
England was also in a deadly position, after defeating to Aussy and washed away against Scotland. Anyhow they held their nerve and won against Oman with 101 alls remaining gaining a huge boost to the NRR. Then once again rain affected for the match against Namia and they could have won a 10-over match.
Still, they had to rely on Australia for their match against Scotland. There were cool banters that Aussy trying to manipulate and lose the match. Even Scotland did well to score 180 runs and show a professional show while balling in the first half. but eventually lost by 5 wickets preserving England's chance.
A memorable match
- South Africa vs Nepal - Who could have thought upcoming Nepal would almost win a match against mighty Proteas? Nepal did well to restrict SA to just 116 runs. And even they carried the chase very well, especially Aasif Sheikh and Anil Shah. When the earlier departs Nepal had to get just 31 runs in the final 6 overs. Looks easy isn't it? ut SA allers pulled the things off and still Nepal had to get 8 off the last over. Gulshan Jha could have easily taken things for a super over. ut Nepla fans were in tears as they lost the things by 01 runs.
Most Runs
Most Wickets
Afghan boys are leading the things and it's amazing how they have evolved. And in their last 03 matches against NZ, Uganda, and PNG none of them couldn't pass 100 runs. So, it will be exciting to see how they fight in the Super 08 matches.
So, it will e very thrilling and exciting in the upcoming week. Let's see!!
You can guess the 4 semi semi-finalists, finalists, and the winner correctly and win exciting prizes!!
Until the next time! Enjoy!
Thank you.
Best Regards!

Not me! (•ิ‿•ิ)
It seems it is the year of the underdogs... WI and USA! Wow!
@patjewell it seems QDK played in a different pitch!!
Two matches in a row now... I'm just glad he made his 50.
What amazes me is how one day it is batsmen that perform, and the next day it is bowlers.
They just make it nail-biting for us all the time.
Shortly, they will refer to South Africa as "one point" if we carry on like this. (•ิ‿•ิ)
At least last night was more than 1 point.
@damithudaya
Umh... seems I was wrong
what a great match...
With the WI's defeat to England?
Nah! Seeing WI and England in the final.
That would have been epic!
Yeah, they performed really well... Anyway the experience matter after all? Isn''t it
I agree with you and have to lift my hat to the Americans.
Wow, who would have thought they would be doing so well.
