Weekly CRICKET Review - Lix | Thrilling and dramatic
Hello, fellow Cricket Enthusiasts,
You already know I am sharing a weekly wrap-up of what is happening within the Cricket community. It's the 58th edition now.
The 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup is currently ongoing in the Caribbean islands and the USA. Well, gotta tell you, this year is getting exciting day by day! So, Let's dig on!
- Last week, I discussed the tournament update of the Group stage.
The Super Eight became even more thrilling and dramatic. Apart from the USA (they indeed gave a damn good fight), all the other 6 teams were in the race of sealing the knockout spot, until their last matches!
Despite SA winning 5 matches straight, they couldn't afford to lose their final match against WI. Anyhow they made it, and despite losing both opening matches in the group stage and super eights, England was the first team to go through.
Current scenario - England, South Africa, and India are in the semis. It's a do-or-die match for Afghan boys tomorrow against Bangladesh to kick off Aussies and advance to the semis. Ooo oy, I'm seeing a dream here!

Magical Moments
- Afghanistan defeating Australia will be the highlight of the tournament so far. Their journey is so inspiring and it's joyful to see their rise as our own. From playing Cricket in refugee camps, playing division of 5, and now they are threatening the full teams. They have come a long way in no time. Without a doubt, currently, they are the second est team in Asia at least in T20I s.
In the 2023 ODI World Cup also they came so close, but Maxwell's heroic inning took that away. This win is very special for them as it's their first win against mighty Aussies and they stay clear in the World Cup race.
- South Africa journey - They are on an uneaten streak and they made it through to the semis. SA came in as a favorite contender this year and is in so much need of winning their first World Cup. Isn't it @Patjewell?
Almost all of their match were very close ones. Winning against Nepal by just 1 run, Bangladesh by just 4 runs, England by just 7 runs, where all came until the last moment. When chasing also against Ned and WI it almost gave a heart attack.
Their ballers, led by Rabada are doing a great job in the pressure situations and so are the middle and lower-order batters. ut in the next two game Reeza and Markram have to find the form!
- West Indies ended their hopes - After losing their first match against Eng, they got a healthy NRR post against USA. So, it was a do-or-die game against SA for both teams.
With a wonderful falling and fielding display SA restricted the host to 135 runs in their 20 overs. Anyway, the target was reduced to 123 off 17 overs due to rain. Reeza went for a duck, and Kock in the second over. Considerable contributions from Markram and Klaseen with Stubbs made things good for SA but WI kept taking wickets, Needing 23 from 24, Tristan Stubbs got out, and Jansen sticker with Raada. Anyway, these two could make it through in the last over.
Most Runs
Most Wickets
So, it will be very thrilling and exciting in the upcoming week. Let's see!!
You can guess the 4 semi semi-finalists, finalists, and the winner correctly and win exciting prizes!!
Until the next time! Enjoy!

Wow! What can I say. What a match! Little do I need to say that I am thrilled to the bone.
I salute them!
Now over to your question.
I don't want to jynx them; therefore, I am not going to say anything except for 🤞🏻
Aaaaand they are in the semis with you! What a journey, did you know that Nabi and few started their Cricket in a refugee camp and came whole the way from division 5 to here! Nabhi has won matches with more than 45 countries? What a rise IN front of our own eyes!
Oh wow! I was not aware of this. Thank you for sharing.
