QUESTION

Are managers mainly responsible for the performance of their team?

We have seen many instances in football whereby teams have been built by incredible managers using the same squad that were not doing well in the past. Also, we have seen situations where the players themselves have admitted to being the faulty ones. What do you make of this?

Any reward that will be received on this will go to help boost our community steem power.

THANK YOU!

The strategy in football is important, for this reason it is always the coach's responsibility, but sometimes the players can also be responsible for what happens in the team, from my point of view there is a balance of responsibilities, but to know this you have to make an analysis:

  • (1). Observe if the coach is making the right line-ups, see if the changes he makes are at the right time and how much confidence he has in his squad, as well as how he treats the players, as there must be a good relationship.

  • (2). If the players are committed and are giving the best of them that is observed and even the fans can notice it, so if the strategy is good we will see that the performance of the club will be good, in the opposite case if the coach's approaches are bad, the players although they strive will not perform at 100%.

The most unfortunate thing is that many times when there are clubs with injured players or players who are not committed to their clubs, these bad results or poor performance are criticised to the technical director, but this will depend on the confidence of the administrative and directive part of the club, as they are the ones who decide, sometimes they fire technicians or give them confidence and allow them to buy more players.

Again I repeat, although there is a balance between both cases, everything will depend on the atmosphere in the club and the patience of the board, they are the ones who decide whether or not to fire the coach, as there are cases of good results and equally the directors consider that a coach should no longer continue.

Great answer. It is great to find a balance between the two.

Thank you @worldoffootball for this opportunity once again.

The contest posted today is a very good one, and if given time can write a lot about it.
My answer to the above contest is yes; they are responsible for the performance of their teams.

A manager is someone who supervises, control and direct the resources of an organization or association, and motivate his employees to achieve a targeted goal.
A manger is responsible for the performance of a team in the sense that, he is responsible for running the team affairs, make sure the players are in good standing and best form. Before a team can function well, the manager have to make sure the team is united, and have team work.

If a team is not functioning well, is the responsibility of the manager to detect the fault or the leaking point and work on it.
If the fault is from a particular player, is the responsibility of the coach to work on him, if possible loan or sell him.

And it’s the manager’s responsibility to sign good and potential players if the team players are not functioning well, if not he is accountable for every loss the team makes, and can be sacked. For instance, when Chelsea wasn’t performing well, and Thomas Tuchel took the team, he changed it. That’s the function of a real manager, being able to change a team in terms of crisis.

Thank you. 🙏🏾

Without thinking about it twice my answer to the question is YES manager are sole responsible for their team's performance. My reason for saying this is because;

Before i will give my reasons, I will ask a practical life question, which is assuming a company is not performing to expectations or collapse, who is the person to be blamed?

If your answer to the question above is the manager then I do not see the reasons why you will not agree with me. Manager are sole responsible for the success of their company likewise their team. I therefore think managers are sole responsible for their teams performance.

Managers are given everything they need in order for them to perform and who therefore should should we blame. Managers are also given the chance to make changes in the course of play if their players are not performing making them the sole responsible for their teams performance.

That's a good point raised. Thank you.

Sure it is a pleasure

That is 40% true for me. The manager decides on the tactics to be used in the gameplay. The efficiency of the adopted tactics depends on how well the players apply it. Players are the once that take part in the action and are responsible to give a better performance.

It should be so that when players notice their tactics not working, the managers attention should be drawn inorder to change to a more suiting formation. Then again, it all comes done to how the players perform with the changes too

Solid point.

For me is yes managers are solely responsible for the performance of the team.
I said so because, players that are playing at the top level are believed to be professional players and is left for the manager to dish out his playing pattern and formation for them and also make sure they’re motivated and happy to work for the manager.
