What is your motivation and pressure in Steemit? - The need to write

Let me explain

what motivates me to be on this platform. It is the writer inside of me that needs to write, kept searching for a platform and looking for like-minded, writers, people who love to write, puzzle with words and deliver a variety of food for the brain of the readers.

Indeed I am juggling with words and try to reach out to those who love to write just like me. For many years every Steem earned went to those who joined contests. Contests I sponsored on behalf of communities who did not reward me for this. I sponsored, rewarded and invested an awful lot of time. Did I gain an audience, more upvotes perhaps? The answer is no. Steemians easily forget who once helped them out and most of them are not interested in reading and commenting. There interest is how to stay alive. I don't think much has changed since I joined years ago.

If it comes to this platform the Steemians are not in the same boat, quality isn't recognized, neither is the one who spends hours editing on a mobile phone like @blessedlife and myself.

Perhaps what I write in this article shouldn't be a response to the questions asked by the Indonesian Community but an answer to the question: What does your day look like?

Like said I have an inner urge to write,

above all I love stories, I don't care who wrote it, if it's real, part of history or made up.
As soon as I wake up I start writing, if not I might lose the words and story I wake up with. It's not easy to write on a mobile phone, it takes a lot of time. I need about three hours for writing only. Next, I edit, reread, read again, check, and read out loud and this all together takes me at least 6 hours if not 10. The worst is to check that long list of rules, those tags that at times are so many it doesn't need room to use your own. I have to go forth and back between what I wrote and the long list of demands. I wonder if this makes this platform a better place and if those who love to read will find what they are looking for. I have very strong doubts about that. It's impossible to scroll through every post I wrote which means those written words are lost.

At times this is a bitter pill to swallow since it's impossible to save hundreds of stories on a phone let alone every single article.

If you are allowed to join

this contest hosted by @steem.indonesia I hope you share your honest opinion. Questions like these can make me enthusiastic and even make me want to write about it although writing a story is more fulfilling to me.
They say one should engage to be noticed but I doubt it's possible if there are so many entries. Besides mine seems to show up after at least a delay of 30 minutes which causes a lot of stress (plus the X link can't be left and gives an error).

I do read and comment and indeed I upvote even those I can not read. I need to copy and paste what is written into a translator to figure out what is posted. This takes me at least three hours to do so and I noticed it's not always appreciated or perhaps people simply do not have the time, energy or internet connection to be that active. I understand if it comes to reading and commenting but an upvote is easily given even on those days I run out of time.

Without any question, I have a life and at this very moment, my hand and wrist hurt because of typing. I am aware Steemit consumes most of my time (night and day) and I have to put a hold on doing more than 100% my best. Why? Because there's work to do and I need time to write what I like most of all which aren't diary posts, answering questions nonstop or ventilating what's on my chest. I get grumpy grumpy if I cannot write.

20231021_132938.jpg_ Love, Games, Hate, Lies... This platform has it all. Enough to write about.

Does it pay back all those hours I invest

on Steemit? Not if it comes to the payment, by far not. My internet connection already costs me close to 50 euros a month and it is far from fast and stable. If my phone lets me down I won't be able to replace it immediately which says enough.

The fact people think I am rich and have a high income just because I live in a "great" country is far from the truth. I not only juggle with words but with my low income as well (over 50% is rent and 25% is for health insurance which won't refund the first 850 euros (!) and the government forces upon people. A health insurance can not be refused.)
You don't need to be great in maths to calculate that what is left is by far not enough to pay for electricity, public transport, clothing, school fees and three daily meals.

Did I join Steemit to make a living?

The answer is no. I've been around here long enough to know what I write is rarely appreciated. To pay my bills I need to count with a certain income. I can't build a life on what I might earn on this platform. Steemit can not provide in my financial needs or perhaps it can and I don't know the right people.
Nevertheless, 2$ per post a day I set as a goal for the end of 2023.
I do not only want to increase my SP but also hope to buy a present for me and my children at the end of 2024 to close a year of sacrificing in a happy way (and no, I am not talking about expensive items like laptops, clothes, cars or a pair of shoes for the winter).
A post a day should be possible, about the amount I am not so sure. In two months I hope to change club5050 into club100 (I haven't figured out how to do that yet but it was @patjewell from the @steemladies who told me what to start with).

Why is it that not many in the "Western" world join platforms like Steemit?
It's not because no one is interested but because for most of us, it is difficult to get access to Steem. It's great to earn Steem but how to buy bread, potatoes or rice with it?
Those who are into crypto have to register and not only the government and banks check on you. Be prepared that if you earn and dare to exchange it for euro you need to pay tax on this income as well. Next to that, the CBDC is promoted and MSM is not very positive if it comes to cryptocurrencies. People can simply not afford to lose more money than they have, many are in debt, which indeed leaves 'us' with the investors.

How does it feel not to be read?

Is it read or appreciated? To be honest I do and did not always care if people read me. I wrote for me.
If it comes to a story I feel great about I am proud of myself. If it comes to English I am not a native speaker and frequently lack the words. I might not be rewarded by what I write but I am if it comes to at least one comment of someone who actually read what I wrote. I might not be able to buy bread or fruit but to me, this is a great reward. I share these comments with my children and you know what? It gives me an immense boost of energy and happiness.

So to those who took the time to read and comment, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are awesome and while writing this I can't stop smiling because of your compliments!

Hi,
Sorry, I didn't get the notification for your mention, hence my late reply.

Thank you so much for crediting me with the ability to bring a smile to your face. There's nothing more fulfilling than being able to make someone smile. Your writing is impressive, showcasing a unique talent. Although I may occasionally be delayed in my responses, I will always make an effort to read your work.

Please keep smiling

Edit: And I forgot to comment earlier. Your frustration about the use of "tags" or "right tags" to connect with like-minded readers is genuine. Many people feel the same way. However, I suppose those are the rules, perhaps limitations, to make it an effective system for upvoting, moderating content, and so on.

Regarding translation, well, I don't know which engine you use, but on my mobile and Google Chrome, there is an option for translation while remaining on the page.

I can help you if you want to know more about how to translate from the current page. Let me know please

It doesn't matter when you respond it's the fact that you did.

Just like you I noticed there's something wrong with the notifications, same if it comes to publishing.

Thank you for your compliments, it's the best reward I can wish for.

A great weekend!
🍀❤️

I have edited my earlier comment.
I forgot to mention a few things:)

Great weekend to you too :)

I noticed, thanks for the offer to help me out. I can't and don't want google chrome on my old phone. It uses too much memory plus I don't want my life be all about g oogle.

I wish you a great weekend as well, I really need to schedule my time and try to ignore all those stories in my head keeping me awake.

P.s. If it comes to the tags...there aren't that many needed for one contest only, next to the boring titles, mentioning the host, the contest, leaving the link (at times endless scrolling), promoting on X, and so on. All for the chance to be upvoted?

I've been hosting contests for years and one tag does the trick. It saddens me own posts can not be found and the same counts for those who search content about a certain topic.

In the last case it would attract more readers.
👋🍀❤️

Thank you @patjewell

By the way, I really like your team banner, especially your wink anime photo 😉

¡Saludos amigo!😊

🍀❤️

Greetings @wakeupkitty.pal

Reading your writings is connecting with many emotions. You really write from the soul. I envy your "obsession" 😄😃 for writing, sometimes it happens to me, but I'm more of an inspiration. Now I'm working on disciplining myself in writing.

These contests, which without any intention to offend, seem very square and predictable to me, do not inspire me much to participate.

We are reading each other in other spaces.
Good luck in the contest.

I agree with you diaries and answering questions does not trigger the creativity of the mind of a writer.

This time I wanted to share, and I hope someone who concerns it reads it, my opinion,to be honest about what drives me and this platform is not about rewarding good content only.

It saddens me if people believe they didn't write something good because they do not receive an upvote.

To be honest I find it hard to find the good writers, thode stories intriguing me. They are here but hard to find among all those posts sharing exactly the same name but hosted by different communities. To me it feels strange to join a foreign community. If everyone can join why name it after a country, why not stay for a certain topic?

Perhaps you get inspired by reading, the news, a certain word or picture?

Perhaps it's a challenge to build a story out of every Q&A contest? It's what I plan to do and did with My Dream Place although I do not like to add all those pictures because it's about the written word.

I hope to read you again, please feel free to tag me and let me know if you want me to do the same if there's a story telling contest.

A great weekend to you. Thanks for your support and responding.
🍀❤️

Joining Steemit while doing other things will help you to grow your Steem power much better and fast. I like your motivation. Success to you.

Thank you for your kind words.
