In Srilanka there are number of cultural eligance factors. The city that I live is the core of SriLankan Traditions. Kandy is considered as the city that follows the ancient cultural traditions still in the correct way.

⭐What is your specific cultural attire and how frequently do you wear it?

In Sri Lanka the main cultural attire that the ancient people wore is the Saree for ladies and the National suit for Men. The men's costume is like a cloth wrapped around their waist with a top to cover the upper body. Men used this top part decorated with gems, diamonds and other stones show the wealth of their families. Ladies wear sarees made of different materials. The material is also depend on the wealth of the people.

Ancient kings and queens wear this costume with expensive materials. The jewelry was also big and expensive.

In this picture, you can see a very old family in their national costume. By the time the National costume was changed little by little with few changes in the style and materials but without damaging the original quality.

In this image, you can see a couple dressed in Sri Lankan national costume as their wedding attire. Mostly the Original SriLankan National costume in worn by the bride and bridegroom at their wedding. Nowadays there are places where people can hire this National costume for any occasion. This original pure attire with much jewelry is done only for the wedding at present. The bride and the bridegroom should follow some guidelines in order to wear this costume. it takes a long time to dress this.

For special functions, Engagement ceremonies people wear the National costume which is updated and modernized. The jewelry and the hair dressing is simple for those functions. But still they maintain the quality and legacy of the national costume. Another main thing is fashion shows, in fashion shows and model events most the male and female models wear an updated national costume.

Another occasion is National Independence day. On Independence day we wear the National costume but there are few changes when compared with the wedding attire. The colour theme is white on National day and men wear the modern National costume. We wear the national costume and commemorate the ancient heros who worked hard to gain the independence to our country.

Our national costume is very unique and the occasions we wear it also unique. So it has a value for the National costume and people respect for the national costume a lot. The national costume is done from different materials. As I explained above people use the material and the design according to the money they can spend on the costume. So I can give you a price range other than specifying a certain amount.

According to the occasion and the style with material the prices always vary. Female costume can be done in a price range of 6000 LKR to 100000 LKR and the male costume can be done in the range of 3500 LKR to 40 000 LKR.
