What is your specific cultural attire and how frequently do you wear it?

Pakistan is a country rich in traditional cultures, traditions, and customs. As a Pashtun from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, my specific cultural attire is the traditional Pashtun dresses , which is also known as the "shalwar kameez". The Pashtun dress consists of loose trousers (shalwar) and a long shirt (kameez) that usually reaches the knees foot . The dress is completed with a colorful scarf (dopatta) draped over the shoulders of body .

As a proud Pashtun, I wear this attire on special occasions such as weddings, family gatherings, and isalamic religious festivals like Eid . It is an essential part of our culture and identity, representing our values and traditions. The dress is made of comfortable and breathable cottons fabric, perfect for the hot and summer climate of KPK .

List and describe the activities for which you use this cultural attire

There are numerous occasions and events in pashtun society where I use my cultural attire. One of the most prominent events is weddings, where the traditional Khan dress is a must-have for men special dress and most famous . The Khan dress is also popular during cultural festivals and religious islamic gatherings such as Eid and Ramadan. It is a symbol of identity and pride for Pashtoons, and wearing it reflects the respect and admiration one has for their cultural inheritance .

Moreover, Pashtoons are known for their hospitalities , and when hosting guests, it is customary to wear the traditional attire as well . It is a gesture of honor and respect for the guests, who are welcomed into our homes with open hearts and a warm reception foe guests . The Khan dress is also a popular choice for formal occasions such as conferences and seminars, where it represents the culture and traditions of the Pashtoon people in every place across country .

Do you think your cultural attire is unique and how much does it cost in your country's currency?

As a proud Pakistani , I must say that the cultural attire of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province is unique and vibrant in respect to others , but it is my perspective . The traditional attire for men is a shalwar kameez with a waistcoat or a coat, while women wear a long shirt or kameez paired with shalwar and additionally dupatta . The Pashtun culture is reflected in the embroidery and design patterns of the attire in kp. The embroidery on the women's dresses is called "phulkari" and is done with bright, colorful threads in dresses .

The cost of cultural attire in Pakistan varies depending on the quality and material used. In KPK, a traditional shalwar kameez for men can cost anywhere from PKR 2000 to PKR 8000, while women's dresses range from PKR 3000 to PKR 200000. The prices can go even higher for hand-embroidered dresses and for special occasions like weddings etc .

Share your cultural attire price in steem

In terms of cryptocurrency steem, a traditional shalwar kameez for men in KPK would cost around 60 to 500 steem, while women's dresses can range from 120 to 700 steem. Of course, the value of steem is subject to change, but these estimates give an idea of the cost of cultural attire in KP's people . Despite the varying costs, traditional attire holds great importance in Pakistani and Muslim cultures and is often worn on special occasions and festivals to celebrate the rich cultural inheritance .

Thanks a lot brother for taking part in this engagement challenge.

You shared a very different and unique culture with us. I am also from Pakistan and from Punjab province and you are from Pashto. But as a citizen of Pakistan and as I love all cultures of my country that's why I already know the culture of pashtun people.

  • I think it's a very different and unique dress to wear lose clothes and it looks more decent than tight clothes. In adition lose clothes also makes you comfortable and I already know that Pashtun salwar kameez are very loose and its really the culture of Pakistan.

Khyber culture is my most favourite culture especially the cap the people wear also looks very unique and very good and the type of dance that they do at any cultural event also very inspirational for me. I already know the culture of Khyber pakhtun khwa and Pashto people.

You write very well and explain the reality about the culture of this province of Pakistan. If I talk about the costumes that women of this province wear than this costume really looks very good and different then all the costumes and I can say that it is very unique culture because Pakistani no about this culture but mostly people that are foreigners don't know about this culture but I am sure that when they see your article and observe the culture then they will like it also and they will also like to wear this costumes.

I like the mirrors that are present in the clothing of girls basically there is a designing of mirrors in the clothes of girls and these all things are handmade mostly because the woman of that area are also very hard working and they like to wear it with a lot of devotion and also they like to made dresses with very love.

Thank you so much for your participation.
