The Empire Strikes BacksteemCreated with Sketch.

That's still the best Star Wars movie ever made. It's also the chapter we've reached in the Democratic presidential primary elections; the Democratic party establishment struck back with devastating effectiveness, and the rebels led by Bernie Sanders are in disarray...

The Empire's good fortunes lasted only one film in the fictional realm of a long time ago and in a galaxy far far away, as in the next film, called "Return of the Jedi", the rebels pushed on to ultimate victory; we can only hope that the Empire's victory in our real world will prove to be just as short-lived. If not, Joe Biden's surprise win last night might be exposed coming November as one of history's clearest cases of citizens voting against their own best interests, because if he becomes the Democratic nominee chances are that he'll lose crushingly against Trump in the general elections. The message sent by the party's elites and the corporate backed mainstream media was crystal clear after Biden's win in South Carolina; Biden is the man to beat Trump, so if you want Trump out of the White House you'd better vote for Biden.

The exit polls showed that many voters were late deciders and the indication is that those went for Biden in record numbers. The exit polls also show that on actual policies and trust, voters are overwhelmingly with Sanders; on topics like medicare for all and climate change the polls consistently show that Bernie's ideas are popular and that voters trust Bernie most of all candidates on these all important issues. Here we have prove once again that voters know exactly what's good for them, yet refuse to vote on the issues that matter in their lifes most. The issue here is that the polls show that beating Trump is currently the number one priority for a majority of the Democratic voter base, and they fell for the electability argument propagandized by The Empire. Clearly Darth Vader is the most electable candidate. And Luke Skywalker? Well, I like his ideas, and I like what he stands for, but there's no way he'll win the elections. Look, I'm going to be perfectly honest here: no one knows, I don't know if Biden would be able to beat Trump, this is politics and anything can happen. The point is though that in a choice between Biden and Trump, it wouldn't really matter who wins; nothing will change, and that's a loss for all people of the world.

What also became very apparent during last night is how big of a spoiler Elizabeth Warren is for the Sanders campaign. The results were even more than devastating for her; she finished with winning no states at all, not even finishing second in a single state. Her best was third in just a few, among which was Massachusetts, her own home state. I have to say that to me the result in that state is suspect though, as it was supposed to be a race between Sanders and Warren with Biden miles behind, but Biden eventually WON that state, with Sanders second and Warren third; I understand that the party's V.I.P.'s rallying behind Biden had some effect on all those late deciders, but a 14 or 15 point jump for Biden seems a bit much. Remembering all the irregularities we've already had, I'm not ruling out some "creative calculations" going on in the background there... But to make the point: there were many states that could have easily gone to Sanders if Warren had coalesced behind Bernie by dropping out and endorsing him. To make things worse for her (she'll probably never win back the trust from progressives), she's sent an email to her supporters asking for more donations and she already published advertisements for the next primary elections, indicating she's continuing her treacherous crusade against real progressive change.

Look, there's no sugarcoating it; super Tuesday was a major disappointment and a serious blow for progressives all over the world. It's not all over yet though. Bernie's expected to win big in California, the nations biggest and most delegate rich country; Biden will almost certainly have a slight lead coming out of super Tuesday, but he'll be virtually tied with Sanders on the delegate count. It's effectively a whole new race now with a clear choice; Biden against Sanders, more of the same old neoliberalism against a prospect for a better future for all, a devastating loss to Trump in November against a real chance in a contest between the right's fake populism against the left's real populism. Also, Bloomberg just announced that he's dropping out of the race; another blow against the progressive cause, as Bloomberg split the votes somewhat in the establishment-camp. Put together, we now have to face the nightmare-scenario of further coalescing on the establishment side, against a split vote, caused in great part by Warren's refusal to end her hopeless campaign, on the progressive side. So this is not the time to give up, but to double our efforts to get Sanders a plurality of the delegates. He won't get a majority, that's unrealistic after last night, so getting a plurality is the best we can strive for, and is only the first step; if Sanders gets a plurality, the DNC already announced to take the nomination away from Sanders if there's a brokered convention in Milwaukee this summer. So going to Milwaukee and protest that blatant overthrowing of the will of the people will probably be step two. This is war people, this is class war at its purest...

Full trench warfare now. Let's go.

I KNOW you'll be on the front-line :-) I'm right there with you!

Why do you love centralized government so much? I want to make government smaller. Bernie Sanders promotes making government bigger.

IF the government indeed represents the will of the majority of the people, with a constitution in place to protect the minorities, as it's supposed to work in a true democracy, then the government can not be big enough. In other words; I like big government because I LOVE individual freedom.

Do you prefer democracies over republics? Can individuals have freedom if the government is violating the tenth amendment? You know the tenth amendment?
