My Countries Education Journey: From Satisfaction to Reform

Hi steemians all over the world, as we all know education is an investment that pays off anytime anywhere. And in a world of crumbling economies and turbulent times, where investors spend sleepless nights trying to figure out how their stock's are doing, investing in education becomes more Paramount. By investing in education, governments, corporations, communities,NGOs and individuals can help prepare the youths for the Challenges ahead.
If truly children are leaders of tomorrow,then it's time we started investing in them.

Describe your countries education system including it's structure curriculum teaching methods and key stakeholders.

In my country Nigeria, education is based on a 6-3-3-4 system that translates into three learning processes being.👇

✅ Nursery/primary level

Basically, nursery education forms first stage of the learning process,but it's unfortunate as the 6-3-3-4 system does not include education at this stage hence it starts from primary level.

In my country Nigeria, children start attending primary schools when they are 6years old and spend the next six years there and graduate at the age of 12. On graduation from primary level, they are awarded the first school leaving certificate (FSLC)

Also, primary education in my country is compulsory and it's also free under the Universal Basic Education (UBE). And under primary level, pupils have to put on uniforms throughout the nation.

✅ Secondary level
Before proceeding to secondary level,you must be in possession of first school leaving certificate and must also pass the entrance examination known as Common Entrance Examination. At the first phase of the secondary education which last for three years is provided at the junior secondary schools. At the end of these three years, students sits for junior secondary school examination and the successful ones are awarded the junior secondary school certificate which is a prerequisite for the second phase known as the senior secondary school (SSS) which also last for three years.

✅ Tertiary level
The tertiary institutions happens to be the last stage of formal education which takes a minimum of 4years completing the 6-3-3-4 educational system mentioned earlier. In most cases, some professional courses last longer, medicine and Dentistry for instance last for 6 years.

There are three stages of education at the University level, namely!

▶️ First degree program
▶️ Master's degree program
▶️ Doctorate degree program

I will state categorically that I don't like what is happening in my countries education system. This is as a result of governments negligence in looking into the education sectors properly. Is it because may be most of them, their children doesn't school here or should I say it's just the way it should be?

But one thing they forget to know is that, education is the bed rock to every nation aspiring to prosper. Education system in my country is nothing to write home about,I can attest to that because I am a witness to it. Yes the curriculum is good and most stakeholders are trying their possible best,but it's not enough to measure the education system outside my country.

Maybe just maybe when they all decide to bring their children back home to study here,then and only then will they see the need for urgent reform in the education sector.

What reforms would you introduce to improve education in your country?Be innovative and practical in your suggestions.

My reforms would be very simple and practical, first of all,

✅No politician should be allowed to send his or her child/ward outside of the country for education as this will strengthen our education system. Those things they seek outside can be replicated here thereby attracting more stakeholders into the education sector.

✅I would introduce a new curriculum where every child schooling must be allowed to choose between many career options to go after while schooling do that by the time he/she is done schooling,they might have acquired something tangible to carry them through.

✅ Also, there would be the introduction of student loans to enable those who might not be well to do to further there education while paying it later as this make more people more interested in school.

✅ This is the part I am taking personal,there will be a total sensitization. My country as a whole have lost interest in anything concerning schooling due to the government lack of interest,but with the proper sensitization, people will see reason as to why they should never neglect education.

These and many more are what I plan to do in other to revitalize my countries education system for good.
