Every city in the world has some traditional vehicles. And the traditional vehicle of our capital Dhaka is the rickshaw. Basically, a rickshaw is a three-wheeled monochromatic vehicle. An essential vehicle in our busy civic life. Civil life in Dhaka, Bangladesh without rickshaws is unimaginable. This rickshaw is the place of hope for many people of the lower class.

According to me, rickshaw is an environment-friendly vehicle and rickshaw can be considered as one of the safest vehicles. Rickshaws do not cause any air pollution. Also, many people make their living and livelihood by driving, building and repairing rickshaws. This ancient vehicle has now become a heritage of Bangladesh. If everyone is aware, maybe one day it will be possible to bring back the good days of rickshaw painting.

Many of our rickshaws have some sort of painting on the back. It occupies a special place in the culture of Bangladesh. These rickshaw images are our pride. It can also be called a completely different genre of our painting. Rickshaw painting refers to some pictures painted in bright colours. Usually, in Bangladesh and India, this type of painting can be seen on the back of the rickshaw. Experts also give it the status of folk art, pop art or craft.

In 2011, during the opening of the Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh, the rickshaw tradition of Bangladesh was well presented to the people of the world. There the captains of each team arrived on the field in a rickshaw. This is highly appreciated.

With the passage of time, foot rickshaws are now decreasing. Battery-powered autorickshaws are now found in every area. With the change of time, today the tradition of pedal rickshaws is losing. In the last six years, such a change has brought benefits to the common people, but the accidents have not stopped. Accidents involving autorickshaws often result in loss of life and limb. Still, autorickshaws are now the main means of transport for internal communication. Now the sound of the lost pedal rickshaw tung-tung bell, whose pedals used to move the household of hundreds of working people is not heard.
