Drug Abuse And Ways It Can Be Prevented

It is a pleasant moment to be here with you all just as I have promised.
I hope you are doing very well, by God's grace, I am, and today I will continue with my post on drug abuse.
Drug abuse is a very serious case in our world today, as it has ruined so many lives and if not spoken about and taken seriously will ruin many more lives.
We explained drug abuse to mean the excessive and continuous intake of hard drugs or substances for what they are not meant for, and today, we will be examining few points on how drug abuse can be prevented.
Like the saying goes that prevention is better than cure, I would also say that it is best we prevent the excessive use of hard drugs than try to bring a solution to the effect it will cause.
Please continue this journey with me as we examine the several ways in which drug abuse can be prevented.
- EDUCATION AND AWARENESS:
One most effective method of preventing drug abuse in the community today is through thorough education and awareness of the youths.
When a well detailed explanation is being made on the risks and consequences of venturing into drugs, the youth will be scared to experiment with drugs amd this will go a long way to prevent drug abuse.
This education and awareness given to the youths often encompasses of information about the social, physical and mental effects of the use of drugs alongside healthy decision making strategies.
- FAMILY SUPPORT AND COMMUNICATION:
Another effective way to prevent the excessive and continuous use of hard drugs with the youth is through family support and communication.
A strong bond, an open and free communication amongst family members can be a very strong protective factor against drug abuse.
Family can show their love and support for one another by providing a very friendly environmental condition where members can feel relaxed and comfortable talking about any concerns they have.
They can also do this by setting clear expectations for the youths and making available the proper guidance such youth needs to survive.
- POLICY AND REGULATIONS:
Another effective way to avoid the abuse of drugs amongst the youth is to enforce policies that regulate the availablity of drugs.
When a proper drug policy is being enforced and abided to, it becomes increasingly difficult for these drugs to be assessed by the youth, and as such they can't abuse what is not in their possession.
Alongside this regulation can be a public health campaign on the proper use of drugs, within this health campaign can be discussed the age limit associated with certain drugs, and also the importance of abiding to doctor's prescription.
It is very much possible for drugs to be regulated and it's abuse contained amongst the youth, especially when this is taken seriously.
A severe punishment can also be put on any youth found misusing drugs, this way, the youth will be scared of experimenting with drugs.
