King Habib

King Habib looked at Kalu with disgust as the man begged for his life. Kalu wasn't begging for his life to be spared, he knew that would never happen unless the gods came down themselves and made it possible. Instead, Kalu was begging for a quick death. He knew how the King dealt with people who were charged with treason, how he peeled off their skin while they were still breathing. He didn't want any of that, he couldn't bare any of that.

"If only the gods would soften the heart of the King and make him end me quick" Kalu thought but if only wishes were horses, then beggars would have a joyful ride.

Some few days back, news had gone round the kingdom that the King had died from a very strange and rare illness. Custom demanded that before the King was laid to rest, every of his noble men and women would come into the palace where the King's remains was and say a final goodbye.

Everyone had gone in and talked to the King, everyone including Kalu. But unknown to them, the king had faked his own death. He had a feeling that someone in the palace was working against him and he needed to know who it was. So as everyone came into the palace one after the other to say their final goodbyes for the last time, he discovered how they truly felt towards him. He discovered that Kalu was already planning an attack against him, before the "unfortunate illness" came. Kalu himself had told him this.

The King smiled as he thought of different ways to end the life of the man begging in front of him. Kalu was going to die, and it would be the slowest death ever recorded in the history of the Kingdom.
