They say everyone has a secret, but no one imagined Chidi's secret would be as huge as this, not even Stephanie, his wife.

Chidi had recently traveled back to the village from the state. His reason had been for him to come find a wife. Chidi believed that if anyone would be perfect for him, then it would be someone from his hometown. So he had quietly arrived at his village. He tried as much as possible not to make his presence known to anyone except for his family. He felt it would be better that way.

On the plane, Chidi had thought about the best way to get a lady that loves him for himself and not for the riches he and his family had and the only way he could possibly think of was to arrive as quietly as he possibly could. Fortunately for him, no one knew what he looked like as he had spent the better part of his lives in the state so if he approached any lady, they won't be able to tell he was the son of Mazi Ibe, the business tycoon.

When Chidi told his dad about his plans, the old man had laughed so hard that he almost fell off his chair. He felt his sons plan was genius but he just couldn't imagine what his son must have gone through in the hands of women in the state for him to come up with such a plan.

Chidi had immediately began his quest. He had business back at the state that he needed to attend to but he had no plans of returning back there a single man. He had gone to sit at the market square where he knew every lady would either be selling something or buying something. He had done this for about a week and every lady he met was either rude or was exhibiting a trait he wouldn't want his future wife to have.

As time went on, his mission was starting to look like a lost cause. It was as if he had set his taste at a very high standard that it was impossible for any lady to meet it, well until he met Stephanie.

At first, he had thought she would be like everyone else, not willing to talk to a man whom she had not seen before but Stephanie had been different. She had a smile that seemed to put even the most nervous man at ease.

Two months later and they had both became close friends. Chidi had told her about his intentions to marry her and she had responded like he knew she would.

“You will have to come see my parents.”

Chidi knew with a response like that, he already had her, all that was left was her parents consent. So he got ready to go see her parents. But unlike the usual traditional way where he had to come with his own people to see hers, he had gone alone. He was still trying his possible best to keep his family a secret.

When Chidi got to her place, her dad had welcomed him the same way a father would welcome a son and although he raised concern about Chidi not being accompanied by anyone, he still had been nice and very welcoming to Chidi. While Stephanie's mom on the other hand had been a little bit tough at first but Chidi had managed to win her over just before he said his goodbye.

They had both agreed that they would give their daughters hand in marriage to him if only he came with his people. There was no way they were going to give their daughter to a man whose family they knew nothing of. And so Chidi went home and told his family about the good news, he had finally found a wife and he couldn't wait to bring her home as his wife.

When Chidi finally came with his people, Stephanie and her parent had been too shocked to say a word. It was obvious they had no idea that Chidi was the son of Mazi Ibe.

Later that night, while they both laid on their bed as man and wife, Stephanie had asked her husband while he had kept such a huge thing from her as a secret, Chidi had apologized and told her he had wanted to make sure that the lady he marries loved him for who he was and not for his father's accomplishments. He had promised never to keep any other secret from her before turning off the lights, it was time for him to be with the woman he loves, his wife.
