Contest!!! Event in our History
INTRODUCTION
It is with great pleasure that I am opportune to participate in this amazing contest today which is being organised by @cryptoloover which has the theme "Events in our history"
First of all my name is @radleking and I am so delighted to welcome you all to my blog, today I will be sharing with you all the popular and most memorable event that took place in our country history and everything that falls under it so sit back and let's ride.
TELL US ABOUT THE MOST POPULAR AND MEMORABLE EVENT OCCURRED IN YOUR COUNTRY'S HISTORY?
There are so many memorable events that are stored in our countries history books that will continue to be remembered for generations and generations to come
So now the popular and memorable event that occurred in our country history which I'm going to talk about today is our nations "Independence Day" which took place on 1st October in the year 1960, It was the year in which Nigeria as a whole gain freedom from her colonial masters which were the British government.
IS THERE ANY INVOLVEMENT OF THAT EVENT IN THE CREATION OF YOUR COUNTRY? Tell us about it?
Absolutely yes but according to history it wasn't as easy as it sounds since the amalgamation started in the year 1914 which was done by lord lugard the man known to be the founder of Africa.
The amalgamation was responsible for dividing Nigeria in regions and eversince then it has been British rule all through and so many constitutional development were being introduced such as the Clifford constitution, Richard constitution and the John MacPherson constitution which allowed some Nigerian elite to also represent the people but with limited numbers
So the British colonial masters continue to rule Nigeria from 1914 with several constitutional development untill our saviour came who were the educated elite.

In 1953, Anthony Enahoro initiated the self-government motion in the Western House of Assembly while Dr Nnamdi Benjamin Azikiwe who later introduced the NYM (Nigerian youth movement) with the aim of campaigning and enlightening the public on the need to be free from the colonial masters
It wasn't easy but on 1st October 1960 Nigeria had finally get rid of the colonial masters and gained independence and adopted the parliamentary system of government in which sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa became the prime minister
WHAT IS THE MAIN LESSON THAT CAN BE OBTAINED FROM THAT EVENT?
The main lesson that I have learnt from the historical events is the fact that education is always the key, because if not for the educated Nigerian citizens who where Dr Nnamdi Benjamin Azikiwe, Oyinkansola Abayomi, Anthony Enahoro etc. Nigeria we all know today will still be under the British government
And another thing that I have learnt from the historical events is that "Timidity is not dignity" which means that we should always be out spoken, we should always feel free to express ourselves in the way that suits us and we shouldn't be afraid of what people might say.
LINE OF THE DAY
History refers to legends, History remembers battle and forgets the blood
