Steemit Engagement Challenge S5-W1|My traditional clothes Ebulejonu

in Hot News Community2 years ago

The term "ane Igala" refers to Igalaland, which is regarded as the region where Igala is a language spoken by its inhabitants. The progenitors of the modern Igala-Mela, whose name means "the nine Igala," established the earliest settlement in the Igala kingdom. A vast unit of settlement known as the efunyi or ofigbeli was made up of two or more head steads ruled by their am'onofe -unyi, or family leaders.

Membership in these early settlements was strictly determined by agnatic kinship ties, as in the cases of Am'om'onobule, the am'ana, the in-laws, the am'adu, and the domestic slaves who were assimilated into the community on the condition that they accepted their social and political limitations in some areas.

THE IGALA TRADITIONAL CLOTHES

Scientists and cultural specialists from Nigeria have examined the contemporary Igala. Igala Achi, also known as Igala Ankara, is a beautiful fabric with a texture comparable to Yoruba aso oke. The fabric was named Ebulejonu after the first and only female ruler of the Igala Kingdom. It is one of the most popular clothe Material sought after in the land of igala due to the history attached to it and not only that, it is even admired by a lot of women

Black and yellow are thought to be the main colors used in their clothing. Blue, green, and white stripes can also be worn with Igala cultural attire. The yellow colour stand for the beauty and favourite colour for the tribe of igala and it is really worth it I must confess

Like I said earlier, the colors have profound cultural significance in addition to being used for aesthetic purposes. The history of the Igala Kingdom is highly peculiar to the black and yellow colors. The color black symbolizes the minerals, crude oil, and fertile soil of the Igala area while also portraying its richness.

It also conveys the Igala people's wealth and success. On the other side, yellow stands for the Igala people's hospitality and represents gold, which is seen as a symbol of wealth and prosperity. The distinctive colors of the African continentgreen and whiterepresent harmony and serenity. Apart from the yellow stand for gold, it also stand for perceiving the future will be great

Kogi people are really blessed with a lot of fashion styles in the whole of Nigeria I must confess For both men and women, the material is most often turned into lovely styles. Igala Achi has recently been created into a variety of lovely styles thanks to the Kogi people's renowned talent as fashion designers. Thank God igala is really blessed with high level of creativity of designers which really design correct and top notch clothe. Although traditionally it may be worn as a wrapper by women and female youngsters, with a finely constructed hat from the same material, adorable versions have been seen on several occasions on weddings and female party goers. Most is the time it is usually worned on wedding day often than the causal ceremony

THE PRICE & DURABILITY OF THE MATERIAL

The material varies as follows

The Igala Ashi material costs N1000 and 10 steem per piece (6 pieces makes 1yard)
The Igala Ankara costs N6,000 and 60 steem for 6yards. Though the price actually varies but I just pegged it as this price.

Recently I stumbled upon the igala material customized on shoes and it was so beautiful, the colors blended well and it would look good on anyone that wears it. I didn't have the picture if not I will have share it with you but the traditional shoe will complement the clothe

The igala ashi is more durable as it is thick and also made from the same material as the Yoruba asoke. Trust me the igala clothe is one of the most durable clothe I have ever come across. It is really top notch as it can stand the test of time. Not only that. It can withstand a lot of sensitivity and even damages. It can last a lot of years before wearing out.

I will say even though it might look costly, it is really worth the cost as the durability is of high quality compare to others clothe

Hi @jennyvic09 it was very interesting to learn about your traditional clothes, as I never came across it before. It seems like Igala Achi is something very special, can't really imagine how it feels on touch but might be something very smooth and durable on pictures. I saw some photos of Nigerian people in clothes in such colours but never realized that there are some meaning behind it. It is very thoughtful choice of the colours that represent something. I thought that yellow colour might mean wealth and of course the combination of yellow and black is the magic mix. As always I might say that women in such traditional dress look gorgeous, lovely post and thank you for introduction into the story behind it.

The cost of sewing this cloth is on the low side, i will be getting the material soon. I love it on you.

Thanks for sharing.

I just created an entry too, Kindly Click this link to drop your thoughts it
