Food Diary #009 | Udang Saos Padang
Hello there, how are you today?
Tonight I had udang saos padang as my dinner. Udang is Shrimp in English, and saos padang means Padang Sauce. This means that the dish is shrimp with padang sauce, which is hot and spicy sauce . Padang sauce is one of most favorite sauce for any seafood here in Indonesia.
I was not feel good about getting some vegetables, so as usual when my mood was bad, I ate one type of dish with a plain white rice there.
This is the shrimp with hot and spicy padang sauce. Shrimp is not something that come with cheap price, so don't expect I have a bunch of shrimps here. Although I have to say that Crab is more expensive and Crab in Padang Sauce is more popular here. So based on the price, this will be CRAB > SHRIMP > CLAM.
It would not be a spicy one with out any hot pepper right? Most of Padang sauce is consisted with hot pepper, tomato, garlic, shallot, black or white pepper, tumeric, oyster ketchup and a few other ingredients based on how you want to differ the sauce taste. So there is no one right taste or the original taste one. Any sauce made by anyone from Padang region, that's Padang sauce LOL.
