Dear Steem4Bloggers community friends, how are you all? I hope you are well. I am fine by the grace of Allah Ta'ala. Good luck to all.

Today, I am going to participate in the contest organized by @memamun Bhai in Steem4Bloggers community. The name of Contest title is Talk about traditional food of my country. Thank you @memamun Bhai for organizing such a beautiful contest.


There are 4 questions in this contest. Today I will try to answer these 4 questions properly. let's start

What is the traditional food of your country?

First of all I want to say that I am proud to be born in Bangladesh. The traditions and culture of this country have always fascinated me.

We are also known as Bengalis. We Bengalis are foodies from birth😋. The love of food runs through our culture. Compared to all the famous dishes of the whole world, the amount of famous dishes in our beloved homeland is not less.

There is a popular saying about Bengalis that ''fish and rice Bengalis''. Rice is the main food of our Bengalis ie Bangladeshis. Bengalis need rice in their daily meals anyway. If there is fried hilsa fish and panta rice then there is no comment. So it can be said that fish and rice are our traditional food.😋

Share the story behind why the food is traditional in your country?

Rice has been the staple food of Bengalis since ancient times. At that time, there were many rivers and canals in this entire subcontinent. Thanks to the gift of nature, abundant crops were grown in the fertile land crossed by rivers. Especially rice such as Payjam, Nazirshail, Kataribhog, Balam, Binni etc. On the other hand, being a riverine country, the seas, rivers, canals and lakes of this country used to grow a lot of fish. These include barbel, Climbing fish, Carp, Shrimp, Moon fish, Small fry, Flat fish, Trout, Eel Fish, cat fish, Salmon, seal fish and other varieties of fish.

So they choose to earn a living by cultivating paddy and fishing. These readily available fish and rice are our favorite foods, we are very much dependent on them for life and livelihood as they are easily available with little labor and cost. And that is why we are called Bengalis in fish and rice.

Apart from panta hilsa, Bhuna khichuri, Kacchi Biryani, Haleem, Morog polao, Seekh kebab, Borhani, Chingri malai curry, Doi Chira, Chomchom, Grilled chickens, Jalebi, Kala bhuna, Rasmalai, Shorshe ilish, Famous bangladeshi cuisine biryani are traditional food of Bangladesh.

Of course I love the traditional dishes of my country. Even if we Bangladeshis do not have good food at night and in the morning, we need good food in the afternoon. Hilsa fried is my favorite. If there is fried hilsa and thin dal with rice in the afternoon, then there is nothing to say. I always like fish rice.

Ingredients for cooking rice

  • High quality paddy
  • Sufficient clean water

Ingredients for cooking fish

  • Fresh fish
  • Onion
  • Salt
  • Garlic
  • Ginger batter
  • Turmeric powder
  • Chilli powder
  • Any vegetable
  • Clean enough water
  • Cumin powder
  • Adequate amount of Oil
