Cuando tenía 22 años se trasladó a San Petesburgo e inició sus estudios en la Academia Imperial de las Artes. Como de su formación artística presentó la obra La resurrección de la hija de Jairo, y a través de esta logró obtener una beca para estudiar en Franca e Italia.

Estando en París se rodeó de muchos artistas plásticos, pertenecientes al movimiento impresionista, de quienes aprendió mucho sobre el tema de la luz y el color.

Para el año 1878 se unió al movimiento artístico de los itinerantes, que estaba en contra de la pintura academicista. Fue así como Repin se inclinó por plasmar en sus obras escenas relacionadas con la Revolución rusa. Así como también temas religiosos.

Falleció el 29 de septiembre de 1930, en San Peterburgo, Rusia, a los 86 años.

For this edition the guest is Iliá Yefimovich Repin:

Ilya Repin was born on August 5, 1844 in Ukraine. From a very young age he felt an inclination towards art, and his father placed him under the tutelage of local artist Iván Bunakov so that he could guide him. For this reason, at the age of 13 Repin began to study the technique of portraiture, this being one of the recurring themes in his works.

When he was 22 years old he moved to Saint Petersburg and began his studies at the Imperial Academy of Arts. As part of his artistic training, he presented the work The Resurrection of Jairo's Daughter, and through this he managed to obtain a scholarship to study in France and Italy.

While in Paris he surrounded himself with many plastic artists, belonging to the impressionist movement, from whom he learned a lot about the subject of light and color.

By 1878 he joined the itinerant artistic movement, which was against academic painting. This is how Repin inclined to capture scenes related to the Russian Revolution in his works. As well as religious themes.

He died on September 29, 1930, in Saint Petersburg, Russia, at the age of 86.
