Venezuela Contest | Week 1 | The coffee | Yep, a herbal drink!
Hello everyone!
It's my first time in the Venezuelans Steem community. Happy to join the contest of our lovely friend @marcybetancourt. 🥰🥰 Well, it's all about The coffee
A coffee mug
First I was surprised about the topic. Because it was different and unusual. In Sri Lanka, coffee is not so much popular. Well, rather than going with popular, I'll use not used on a daily basis. The main reason is tea. It's the main exported crop. So, tea is much closer to people than coffee. But later I understood that Venezuela is fascinated by coffee.
The second I heard about the name coffee, there are two things that just popped into my mind. Sherlock Holmes and stomach ache. 😂😂
Are you a Sherlock Holmes fan? Well, I am. When he is alone with a coffee jar and his pipe, he always solves the crimes. And that's true. Coffee can improve energy levels due to containing the stimulant called caffeine.
And also, for a stomach ache, we consume coffee with a few additional lime drops. It's good medicine for that.
Usage
As I said, not on daily basis, but I prefer it regularly especially, when studying. Actually, I prefer coffee more than tea. But mom always said it dries the stomach. ☹️☹️
The preparation is quite simple. Put the required amount of coffee, sugar into a pot of boiling water. To enjoy the full flavor and the taste keep it for a few minutes closed. You can add some milk as well as to make milk coffee. Well, I prefer it better.
Cultivation
In Sri Lanka, we don't grow it mass scale. But there are some people who depend on this. In my home, there are a few trees for domestic usage. Well, we don't maintain them well. But we receive a reasonable amount of harvest in every term. 🥰
Trees
This is the offseason. But there are some flowers and seeds/ fruit in here and there.
Cofee seeds
The green-colored ones are gradually turned into red and then into black color/ dried. When they are the red color we can pluck them and sun-dried too. That's what we usually do.
Coffee Husk
Then the skin has to be removed. I don't know an advanced method. But my mother used Mortar and pestle for that. So, this is the coffee husk. Well, they are not perfect. But they do the job. 😅😅
Powder
We can blender the coffee husk to get the powder. There are machines as well for this. But I have never used one.
Medicinal Value of Cofee
Can Improve Energy Levels and Make You Smarter - due to caffeine

You can see more details from the article Health Benefits of Coffee.

So, coffee is one of the beverages with a high medicinal value. No wonder it has this much popularity in the world.
Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy as much as a cup of coffee. 😅😅 Here is a nice quote!
Thank you.
Best Regards!
Hello @damithudaya. Thanks for sharing your coffee experience. You have made a great publication! Your coffee plants have surprised me.
This is the most popular way of preparing coffee.
I have read about the Tea Ritual. Here we say that coffee also has a ritual. Boil the water, place the coffee (not all boil water and sugar), strain the coffee with a special cloth (linen -fabric sleeves-, I don't know if this word in English is correct) to release its aroma.
Then, serve the coffee. Not too hot or too warm. It's an ideal temperature that I would not know how to explain.
That's exactly how it's!
Hahahaha, I laughed reading this. Maybe it's true and that's why we Venezuelans are energetic
Absolutely true!
Thank you for the anonymous statement "Coffee is a hug in a cup". For me, it is a magic phrase.
Thank you very much for participating in our contest. Venezolanos Steem is your home too! Best regards!
Yeah! We have more than 10 well-grown plants. We didn't maintain them really well. Because they already provide more than our coffee needs. In every term, there are a lot of small plants grown under, from the seeds. 😅😅
Happy to know about that ritual. I didn't know that.
Yeah yeah! That's true. Due to caffeine. You should read a sherlock holmes book. 😅😅
Yeah. I was surprised about the popularity of coffee in Venezeula!
Thank you very much for reading and the lovely comment!
Hello! Good to know about how coffee is used in Sri Lanka.
I also prefer coffee with milk.
I did not know that it could be used for the stomach with lime, that's new to me hehe.
I think it's great that they have coffee plants at home.
Thanks for sharing.

Yeah that's because tea is very popular in Sri Lanka. For me, I was surprised about the popularity of coffee in Venezuela! 😅😅😅😅
