Steemit Crypto Academy | Homework summary week 6: Crypto scams and How to avoid them

in SteemitCryptoAcademy3 years ago (edited)

A total of 219 homework articles were submitted and reviewed throughout the previous week. This has been overwhelming participation in the topic “Crypto Scams and how to avoid them.” The students must have enjoyed that topic as they sought to learn and take caution on the various Crypto scam tricks used by some bad actors in the Crypto space.

To a larger extent, Crypto funds security is a personal responsibility given the fact Crypto is decentralized. Therefore, everyone has to be extra careful by doing enough research study on the various mushrooming Crypto related projects before investing in them.

Onecoin was the biggest Crypto scam in Uganda and the entire world. Many of my friends lost their life savings in that Ponzi scheme. Some lost valuable friendships and trust since they also recruited their colleagues in that same Ponzi scheme.

General thoughts and observations

Generally, the performance was a good one. The students did this task wholeheartedly given the fact that they were being enlightened on the vital aspect of Security of their hard-earned Crypto.

There was a case of one user who submitted her article yet she was already on the blacklist. I worked together with my assistant to remind her that she is on the blacklist and banned from any future participation in the academy. The blacklist is even published on the chain by our very own Crypto academy moderator. Most of the blacklisted users were muted but some may not be muted as of now but they will also be muted in the Academy community. Students should therefore behave well in the Academy by avoiding any form of abuse such as content farming, use of multiple accounts, plagiarism.

A few students were just lazy. They published very little content with so many typing errors. I could easily sense their energy levels as I read through their articles. I had nothing to do but to score them with an under average rating. Come on, this is all for your good. You have got to show passion in your study by putting more time and effort into your work.
Students need to always proofread their work so that they easily identify any typing errors and grammatical issues made in the course of writing and rectify them, to present much better quality work that is easily readable and understandable.

Learn to use Grammarly, an online tool that can help you to easily spot errors in your work; the tool even goes further by making suggestions of what to correct. It’s a great tool that can help you present a quality article that is easily readable and understandable.

There was a case of one user with spun content. Spinning/paraphrasing another user’s article is a bad habit. Such content is nothing but spam content. As I read through his article I realized he had changed so many technical words in his article, replaced them with usual English words. The article had become meaningless, drifted from the topic of the homework task. That was just an act of abuse by him looking for easy money with no much effort into his research, thinking and writing.
