Greetings to all dear friends from my side. Hope you are all enjoying this season of Steemit engagement challenges. Today I am writing a task set about the Urdu community which is about Steemit and covid-19.

Introduction to Covid-19

Covid-19 stands for corona (co) virus (vi) disease (D) 2019 (19). It is an infectious disease caused by SARS - COV 2 virus. Covid started in china as an epidemic and later spread throughout the world and was declared a Pandemic.

Covid -19 is a viral infection of the respiratory tract that manifests as cough, fever, generalised body aches, fatigue, common cold etc. If the disease is more severe, it may manifest as breathlessness and later complicate to involve all the major systems of the human body.

The severity of covid -19 can be emphasised by statistics of cases reported by WHO. Globally, as of 21 June 2022, there have been 53,75,91,764 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 63,19,395 deaths. It seems deadly while looking at the above figures but the world has witnessed more deadly pandemics than covid-19 like Spanish flu.

With the efforts of world researchers and the scientific community, impact was mitigated by the introduction of vaccines in different parts of the world. The vaccination statistics of WHO show that as of 20 June 2022, a total of 11,91,25,94,538 vaccine doses have been administered. It involves different vaccines recognised by WHO and beneficries register online.

The covid-19 pandemic is not over yet. Neither the disease has been eliminated nor has been eradicated. We must keep following SOPs to stay safe and healthy.

Difficulties during Covid-19

Covid-19 was a great source of trouble for everyone throughout the globe. Every one of us has suffered in one way or another. Some of us have gone through financial difficulties and some through health issues. I'll be talking about the issues that I had to face during the pandemic.

To be honest, being a government employee working in the health sector, I haven't gone through financial hardships. I used to get my salary on time every month and so I was lucky enough to avoid the crunch of the lockdown.

Being a frontline worker, dealing with covid positive patients, I was always exposed to the risk of contracting the infection. Life was at stake during the initial period when too many studies were not available about the disease. Moreover, the mortility rate that was initially seen in western countries was haunting. To avoid unnecessary exposure to my family , I had to isolate myself in my home after duty. Although I was not covid positive but I was in contact with the Covid positive patients, so it was sane not to expose my family

The difficulty in my life was isolation from my family within my home without being positive. Though I wasn't used to doing my work like washing clothes, ironing clothes, cleaning of room etc but during covid, I was left with no option than to perform these tasks myself.

One more issue that I had to face was a shortage of medical supplies like masks and gloves. Despite being in direct contact with patients, we at times had to use masks for days against the regulations. Sanitizers were not available in adequate quantity. So there was always an apprehension of contracting the disease for no fault of ours.

Isolation from friends was also hurting as we all were busy dealing with crises. Practising social isolation from friends and not being able to visit picnic spots with friends or family, was one more bad experience that I had to face during the pandemic.

Role of Steemit during pandemic for me, friends etc

Steemit blockchain was a great source of solace for me within the distress of covid-19. I used to share dairies on a routine basis and so interacting with friends on Steemit helped me in socialising myself within the isolation. Reading dairies from friends on Steemit was also letting me shun the boredom.

Besides interacting with others to socialise, I also was getting good financial support from curators. Besides powering up my account, I used to cash out as well and that too a good amount. Financial support from covid helped me in enjoying by purchasing si. e gadgets like mobile and iPad.

Moreover, the crypto academy courses that were going on helped me in learning about crypto trading and so it opened a new horizon of income for me. Although i committedd a lot of losses initially but i also learned a lot

I also invited my cousins to join Steemit and they in turn invited their friends etc. So a lot of people were benefitted from Steemit. One of my cousins brought iPhone from Steemit cashouts. Similarly, in our country, a huge number of users were active on Steemit and all of them were benefitted in some way

Covid-19 in my family.

I am fortunate enough to say that none of my family members was severely affected. Although my father had symptoms of covid, he tested negative on RTPCR immediately after testing positive on RAT. But I treated him as a case of covid and provided him treatment myself and thankfully he recovered. My brother and uncle too had symptoms, I also gave them treatment and they recovered well.

Having lot of experiance in dealing covid patients and my family being well educated and health conscious , they were taking all the necessary measures to avoid contacting infection. I was always there to guide my family .

Conclusion

Covid-19 has changed world many ways . Some of us were unfortunate to loose our close associates and some were fortunate enough to avoid contacting disease. World has witnessed a new era of lockdown and financial slow down. Steemit has played positive role in alleviating financial crisis of users and also helped in sharing one another's pain
