I've Created the First Steem Community for Filmmakers!

Hello Steemians!

"Communities" is a very exciting development for the Steem blockchain! This ecosystem keeps getting better and better. Now we can more clearly organize the network for users and I hope that it helps Steem gain more traction.

So, with that, I've created "Filmmakers", the first Steem community for filmmakers, by filmmakers on the Steem blockchain!

Now, I'll be the first to admit, this is all brand new to me and I'm not sure how it all works or how it's going to shake out, but I'm reaching out to a few of my filmmaker friends to come on board and share within the Filmmaker community. Let's talk about movies, the making of movies and our own movies.

Let's share resources, tips, tricks and techniques!

Let's have some fun and make Filmmakers, and STEEM, a place for creators of the moving image.

Thank you! Watching it now.

One quick question @distantsignal

Can one post be part of few different communities? Or just one and only one?

And also if I subscribe then to some community and new publication will be posted, then how VISIBLE is this post on my feed? I mean - will I be at least notified?

Just wondering how real visibility will increase.

Yours
Piotr

You can join as many as you like.

I'm still learning the communities functions, but my understanding is that the posts won't flood your feed. I'm part of a few and I haven't seen any posts from anyone I don't already subscribe to. However, I have to finish watching the walkthrough by MarkyMark to get more info. https://steempeak.com/hive-100421/@themarkymark/udlquopd

Dear @por500bolos

Thank you for your comment and I'm sorry for such a late reply.

Indeed we can join as many as we like. However ...

From what I've learned users can chose only one community to which post will be "connected". That will make it really difficult for those who would participate in few communities and will have to chose to focus on posting to one of them.

ps.
May I ask you for little favour? I'm not sure if I did ask you about it already or not (hope I'm not repeating myself).

Could you please check out also my recent post if you have few min and share your thoughts on questions related to concept of "introducing steem blockchain to businesses":

Your feedback is always appreciated ;) And I will upvote most valuable comment with 100-200k SP coming from project.hope account.

Yes mate!
I was gonna suggest setting up of this very named community. There are certainly a few people out there who work in the film & video field but aren’t daily ‘content creators’ - so I think this could be a popular place to discover new stuff.

I still don’t entirely understand this communities thing.
I need to read a 101 article on what it does, how to use it and why it’s such a game changer!

Same here! I'm excited about it either way. Join up, and if you like I can add you as a moderator.

Very interesting! Unfortunately, I can't seem to log in. Any idea what key / password to use?
Will dive deeper into this after the weekend ( family time ) :>)

@yangyanje @vachemorte @juliakponsford @maxjoy @marinauzelac you might wanna see this too...

Yo @distantsignal and @vincentnijman about a discord server? Easy peasy.

Apparently they closed the beta a say after they opened it. No news as to what is up. Sorry for that but not even I can log in.

I learnt that communities are open now and this one seems to be working too. Exciting times! :>)

Thanks for letting me know! It’s been a very busy few days and haven’t had much time to check in.

Excellent idea btw.

Thank you. As soon as they reopen the Beta I’ll keep building it. It’s back under password protection.

Best of luck... my suggestion is work with people from other sites who have a lot of experience bringing thousands of people to a community. Tell them the benefits from bringing communities to Steem. However of course we're still weeks if not months away from actually officially launching communities with a full set of tools and design.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'm looking forward to the full implementation. It's a great feature.
