Perhaps, though I don't want us to get caught up in the dilemma of trying to make things perfect instead of simply doing something that is very likely a net positive.
I agree, some things in life just need to be experienced to make the best out of it and to improve them further. Basically, when doing it manually, we have the possibility to react and stop it at any time, if the results should not convince us.
IE, we could target burning 10k SBDs per day, but have a floor at $3 SBD price, if the price goes below $3 then the burning of SBDs stops.
That sounds like a good way of trying it out smoothly without the risk of doing any damage to the SBD price. So, I for my part would be ready to support such a DAO proposal ;)

Also on another note, I suspect that there are potentially several witnesses in the Top 20 that are being run by the same person. For the health and distribution of the STEEM network I think it is important that every Top 20 witness be a separate individual... with UPVU basically deciding the Top 20 at this point, perhaps we can suggest to them some form of verification process in order to be voted within the Top 20? Thoughts?
No progress yet, but it looks like most top witnesses are in favor of burning some STEEM. We don't want to rush things though. Many of us are currently busy with other development stuff, so it may take a while until we come up with a solution.
One question was, how we would ensure that the trusted account, which will receive the SBD payments, won't go evil and send the collected funds to an exchange. In this regard, @starlord28's coming Steem Multisig tool might offer a great solution.
The situation changed a bit, because of some 'fraudulent actions supporting' witnesses entered the upper ranks and further steps needed to be taken. In my opinion it would be beneficial for the whole Steem world, if you would not proxy your witness votes to funds2021 and support real witnesses who actively develop stuff like @starlord28, @roadofrich and @marcosdk instead.
Xpilar and team are very much real witnesses who have and are developing communities and projects on steem. I'm not sure why the animosity directed towards Xpilar to be honest. But continuing down that road, who exactly is rnt1, parse, newsteem.witness and scissorsisters among several other witnesses?!
So, this is the developer you want to support, a liar?

I don't know who manages that witness. Could be a sock puppet account, but I don't have any information about it.
I believe all sock puppets witnesses are managed by justyy and other few peoples in the top 20 and they share the rewards
me being a developer myself or not does not matters anything ..until things are done . i have a team … I don't wanna code anymore ..does this proves anything ? We believe you are a developer . but you yourself might not be as well and you also might have a team .. it really does not makes any sense . You should have a look at the voting pattern by funds2021 once in a while.... Not taking anything away from xpilar with regards to building communities, but a lot of things done by that account should raise eyebrows.... If it doesn't, I probably can't say anything else. You really should see the witnesses voted by that account. You might then change the list of witnesses that you are questioning about....
Yes I have looked into it, what exactly is your problem with it? That you are not on it? This whole thing is ridiculous and being turned into a witch hunt, people are free to vote for any witness they choose yet you guys have ganged up on xpilar and tried to basically 'run him out of town'. You're complaining about rnt1 and have also voted for that witness. Shouldn't you probably be asking the question to the person casting the vote in that case? You should probably talk to xpilar before you come at me. You'd probably have a better context about the whole thing.
No, no, no. I'm not pissed that I'm not on it. I am pissed that I was on it just to be used as a guinea pig to manipulate the rankings. But, obviously, you never bothered to check the history of votes that that account cast. How many times I was voted from that account to only be removed in a day or 2.
Kinda hypocritical. Ever thought that people chose not to vote for their own reasons? Also, you are free to vote for anyone you want. But right now, it's not you who's voting.

The day some of you witnesses chose to exclude me from the witness channel was like a trial without the defendant present and the jury already convicted (me) the defendant without a hearing.
What started afterwards was a dirty game from some of the witnesses to get me out of the top 20 and they succeed. Many witnesses deleted their votes for me and they contacted several of those with a large SP because they also had to delete their votes.
There were many lawyers in that process among the witnesses, but who was the judge in this case?
And one who has been convicted by you before for approx. 11 months ago it seems that you have judged him forever. Why is there so much hatred and why should some of the witnesses decide who should be among the top 20.
It goes too far when you use sock puppet witnesses to push us out. I hope you all have a good conscience for the actions you have taken.
