The benefit of the classical studies - part 2: The Arabic Philosophy (introduction)
The Arabs recognized the philosophy during their conquest in the middle of the 7th Century AD.
They met in Alexandria, Syria and Iran with the Greek culture, including the Greek philosophy. For example, that time the population of Alexandria was around 2 million, speaking mostly in Greek or Coptic. This 2 million population was Arabized by an Arab colony of 6,000 people only! This was achieved by conquests in both the cultural and the social sphere, which did not cause breaks in the traditions of the local population (in fact, in many places the arabs have taken over their culture), the conquered could preserve their freedom of religion (of course they could convert to the Islam) and they also kept their own laws, only their Arab language was distributed to them. So it is understandable that the Arab philosophy is not a good word, since it was not written by Arabs, but in Arabic! The majority of Arabian philosophers are therefore not Arabian, only written in Arabic! In the Middle-East, the Arabian language was like the Latin in Europe.
Many Arabic translating offices were working, which gathered all the Greek texts which preserved in the Middle East and translated especially many neoplatonist Aristotle's commentaries.
Since in the antiquity the philosophical school in Alexandria was a continuation of the Aristotelian tradition, the Arabs, conquering Africa, took it over and conveyed it to Europe. Therefore from the 13. century western Europe starts to follow the Aristotelian tradition. In ancient times in Athens the Platonic School was operating. This was recognized by the whole of Europe until the 12th century. From the 12th century only Eastern Europe remained on this philosophical basis. This results in the difference between the cultural, social and development history of Eastern and Western Europe.
Thus, the Arab philosophers took over the Aristotle system, in which individual things could not be inferred. Therefore, this system was not suited to knowing one God, to prove its views. But the philosophy of Epicurus, the Epicureanism was perfectly suitable for this. The Epicureans believed that the faculties provided by nature are our only source of direct and reliable evidence. This method they called ANALOGY. As per Epicurus there are "no reasons", as in the infinite space the downward atoms are randomly inclined. Therefore, the Arab philosophers are not justified on the basis of a causal relationship, but by the method of comparing individual things.
In Hungary, in the early 1990s, talks were started to engage in a trade relationship with an Arab country, they complained that Hungary had Israeli economic relations and requested termination. All kinds of theoretical discussion proved to be vain, and they could not be convinced of them. But when a member of the Hungarian delegation, knowing the Arabs' thinking (he was the interpretor), said that it is okay to break the contact with Israel if you also interrupt your economic relations with Romania because we Hungarians do not like them as much as you the Jews (using ANALOGY ), this was accepted, and Hungarians did not have to stop our trade relations with Israel.
Will continue and do not forget that Steem is going to the Moon!
