The Feud Gets Hotter
Howdy folks and greetings from the Great Plains of North Texas!
We're in a series about one of the best Texas Rangers to ever wear the badge, the great Frank Hamer, who was brought out of retirement to take down Bonnie and Clyde.
Recap
In the last post Gladys almost had a shootout with a ruthless bad guy named Gee McMeans. His last name is fitting ain't it?
Yeah they drew guns on each other but the shootout was derailed by the Sheriff showing up.
Well, her daddy, Billy Johnson, knew that it wouldn't be the last they heard from old grouchy pants McMeans given the insults to his family and now to himself by Gladys.
Today's story
Gladys's dad was in fear for his daughter's life now but he had a card up his sleeve because you see, he knew of one Harrison Hamer who lived in town, who was working as a part time game warden.
Harrison was Frank's younger brother and he was also an expert with a rifle and pistol. (Plus he needed a decent job.)
So he agreed to work as their body guard. Harrison and his wife moved into the Johnson ranch house and he accompanied Gladys and Billy whenever they went into town, which was often since Billy was the co-owner of the town bank.
An unending fight
Ed Sims, Gladys's ex, got married to Gladys's ex-best friend but Ed and Gladys were in a continual fight about visitations and the length of visits and on and on. They really didn't like each other.
Well, one night Billy Johnson left work at his bank and went to pick something up at the drug store and ran right into Ed Sims who was in town to pick up the girls the next morning for their visit.
But Ed went berserk when he saw Billy.
Public humiliation was bad Karma
He started screaming at Billy that he'd been turning the girls against him, then pulled his pistol and drew down on him while he accused and belittled him. Billy was unarmed.
Luckily a Sheriff deputy heard the commotion and popped in and took Ed's pistols.
Billy went on home..shook up, angry, and humiliated from that ugly public scene. When he got home everyone was outraged that Ed had publicly attacked their family name like that and humiliated Billy in public.
It was an unforgivable act against their honor.

Ol crybaby Eddie may have made one too many insults. We'll see in the next post.

PS- Check out this vending machine I found. Well, it's not strictly a vending machine but it's a game like those Crane games where you try to grab a stuffed animal. But this one is in a restaurant and has live lobsters!
They say they're the first lobster games in North America. And they also say they are the #1 lobster game. lol. I guess if they're the only ones out there then they'd also be #1! Anyway here it is:
How'd you like to service this one sir @glenalbrethsen? I'm assuming the restaurants would furnish the lobsters but you might have to get your hands wet if this thing breaks down. If anyone wants to buy one here's their website: http://www.thelobsterzone.com.
They claim that these machines are very popular so they're tryin to get people to buy em. They don't give a price though, you gotta call their sales department. lol. My guess is around $10,000.

Good morning janton, I am actually the first Steemian friend to comment today! The old bank in Synder looks a might solid building, they built them to last in those days! The feud is as bad as they get!
I have seen lobsters in water tanks in restaurants for diners to choose but not a vending machine. What a hoot!
Howdy angiemitchell! I agree, they didn't cut corners in construction back then. And the lobster thing is a hoot for sure, they make people spend money on trying to grab the lobster they want! It might be fun though so I'm not going to knock it.
I like to sit and sip on wine and be waited on when dining janton, so I might leave the fun of catching one's own lobster to others, lol.
haha! I think it might be pretty entertaining to watch people!
The plot thickens and the story gets complicated. Quite a job trying to remember who is with who and who is who's ex.
I know, I'm trying to keep it simple because there are so many characters involved but I'm only talking about a few of them. It will get simpler as it goes on because there won't be as many players on the table. lol.

Hi Janton! At heart I’m a vegetarian but don’t really practice it fully.
I grew up on a farm but could never eat beef or chicken if I saw the process of them being killed.
When buying meat at the grocery store I don’t like to think about where it comes from, much less pick it out live at a restaurant and have it cooked to eat there-Ugh!
Oh I understand redheadpei, I sometimes have problems with meat for the same reason. Fish is a little different for me, maybe I'm cold blooded!
Is your husband a vegetarian? I think it would be hard to be married to someone who didn't want to eat the same way.
No Hubby isn’t a vegetarian. We eat the same food but he eats more meat than I do.
Well that's good that you eat the same way. men are generally bigger and of course need more protein.
I've been reading lately about how much we need was we get older and the research says we need a heck of a lot more as we age! I'm trying to figure out how to do that, I think it has to be with protein shakes.
Yes, for sure Cowboy, we do change our needs and eating habits as we get older.
Fewer calories should be eaten but more nutritional foods.
Sometimes our stomach acid gets less and we don’t get the nutrients of out of the food like when younger.
That's for sure redheadpei. We supplement with Betaine Hydrochloride which is the same acid that our stomachs produce, to help break down the food and aid absorption.

Howdy tonight sir wwwiebe! Yes that bank is a classic. I actually thought of you when I saw that lobster machine because of you being close to where they catch them. I figured if anyone has them some of the restaurants in your neck of the woods would.
Well this is the cruelty vending machine!!! I hate to see lobsters in the supermarket like this, but this is even worse!!! Honestly, people are so senseless!!!
I knew you would appreciate the barbarian nature of this one Miss Lena, it's remarkable isn't it? It makes killing into a game. You may see this at a restaurant in the future, they say they are selling alot of these machines.
Well, I don't go to restaurants that often and the way the vegan movement is going this will not last very long!
Well, I don't know anything about the spread of the movement but I'd think the Southern states would be a hard area to crack!
I'm guessing they have their pinchers banded, or it would be really easy to win that one... Just drop the claw and you'd have three of them dangling off of it! They could even take it one step further and have a boiling pot of water on the other side of the crane so that it picks them up and drops them in for you. I bet PETA would love that!
