Happy Friday! Hope you all are doing well.

This is a post of my entry for the contest called Steemit Weekly Health Challenge #2 which’s great initiative of @healthsquared and sponsored by beautiful @sweetsssj

I would like the join this health challenge: COOK A HEALTHY DESSERT RECIPE because I like to prepare healthy meals at home and to have healthy lifestyle.

Today I’m so excited share with you a Chinese secret recipe which’s not only healthy, and also healing.

The healthy dessert recipe is CHINESE YAM BARLEY TANG YUAN SOUP

INGREDIENTS for 2
• 300 gram Chinese Yam
• 100 gram Barley
• Half pack of Tang Yuan (glutinous rice balls)
• 12 red dates
• Wolfberries (a little)
• Crystal sugar (a little)

PROCESS
• Wash barley, Chinese yam, red dates and wolfberry.
• Remove the Chinese yam skin and cut into pieces.
• Using electric slow cooker to boil 1 litre of water and put in Barley, then adjust button to high heat.
• After 15 mins, put in Chinese yam to continue boiling.
• After 15 mins, add in red dates.
• After 15 mins, put in Tang yuan and crystal sugar.
• After 10 mins, add in wolfberries and adjust button to keep warm.
• Arrange your bowl and prepare to serve.

It’s so simple and easy by using slow cooker for making a dessert soups. You can leave it and by the time to come back to add the next ingredients.

WHY I SAY THIS IS A HEALTHY DESSERT?

Chinese yam (Shao Yao) naturally taste sweet and neutral. It is nourishing lung, reinforcing the kidney, and benefitting essence.

Barley has high fiber content, vitamins and minerals, antioxidants. It’s impressive health choice to protect our heart and control diabetes.

Red dates is famous Chinese traditional healthy food and good choice to add in to desserts to enhance the taste. It’s replenishing red blood cells and good for women.

Wolfberries is very popular to improve our eyesignt, lower cholesterols and strengthen our immune system.

Besides that, this dessert is 100% vegan for vegetarians.

我每次在为山药削皮前 - 会把它浸在米醋水中,然后戴上手套再削皮~

Thanks Lena. This is a tranditional Chinese soup boiling way to prepare a healthy dessert. But last time my grandma used charcoal to boil soup, now our generation using electric cooker.
