American ideological comparisons between healthcare and slavery
What the American political elite is debating about these days, it is impossible to understand for the average European or Canadian .
Do you imagine that Senator Rand Paul, a physician by the basic profession and the owner of the clinic, as well as a member of the anarcho-liberal Tea Party movement, equates universal health insurance with slavery?
Because in a system where everyone is universally protected, as in Europe or Canada, anyone could come to his office and ask him to examine this person or even heal him! I guess that would be outrageous :)
Rand Paul does not want to be the slave of such universal policy, but only the doctor of those who can pull the card out and pay his (expensive) on-site service.

But it's logical in a way. Because if all Americans would be universally insured (full coverage for all services), insurance companies would pay attention to the cost of hospitals, which would be followed by lowering prices for health care services in the United States - prices in US are around 3 times to 4 times, sometimes even 10 times higher than comparable services in Europe.
American conservatives and very wealthy anarcho liberals are therefore primarily fighting for the material interests of hospitals, as the revenue and profits would go down in the system of universal health insurance.
Seems like selfishness of a ruling class is a kind of "democracy" in US
