Vitamin D reduces the risk of respiratory infections disease!
British researchers have discovered that vitamin D may reduce the risk of contracting the flu, colds and other respiratory infections. A study published in the "British Medical Journal", were analyzed information from patients in 14 countries worldwide and it has been found that vitamin D can reduce the risk of illness by 12%. "Sunshine vitamin", as it is called vitamin D, is vital to bone health, but it has an important role for the immune system.
The team of doctors at Queen Mary University of London analyzed information collected from nearly 11,000 patients who were suffering from various respiratory illnesses, from a simple sneeze up to viruses and flu. The results revealed that a person can protect themselves from such infections if they use vitamin supplements daily or weekly. The researchers said that Britain should follow the example of the US or Finland, where vitamin D is introduced into drinking milk.
Vitamin D - health benefits
- maintain bone health from childhood to old age
Vitamin D helps in better absorption of calcium from food. In the elderly, a daily dose of vitamin D helps prevent fractures and prevent weakening of the bones, and at children it help the harmonious development of bones and prevent rickets, a condition that is manifested by arching legs, big knees and brittle bones prone to fractures.
- multiple sclerosis and vitamin D
Although sclerosis is an autoimmune disease, there is not a clear link to determine whether vitamin D can help prevent this condition.
- diabetes and vitamin D
Some experts believe that there is a close link between them, but it is not known exactly what it causes. On the one hand, it is possible that dietary supplementation with vitamin D to keep from type 2 diabetes, and, on the other hand the excess of body fat, a characteristic symptom of patients with diabetes, can decrease the level of vitamin D in the body.
- vitamin D helps weight loss
It is scientifically proven that obese people, the level of vitamin D is extremely low. Vitamin holding back fat, which is not permitted to reach growth as orgasnim and do their job. It is not yet clear whether obesity is a factor for the lack of vitamin D or vice versa. But a small study shows that people who follow a calorie restricted diet and take vitamin D can weaken easier and faster.
- vitamin D and depression
Apparently you scould say that there are no connection between each other, but things are exactly the opposite. Vitamin D plays an essential role in brain development and functioning, and studies confirm that high doses of vitamin D are associated with a noticeable improvement in the symptoms of depression.
Rich sources of vitamin D
In summer, this is easily achieved if you simply basking in the sun for at least 15 minutes a day, of course, protected by sun cream and hat. In less sunny seasons-friendly, vitamin D can be obtained from food.
The richest natural sources are: salmon, mackerel, tuna, sardines, egg yolk, liver, beef, grains, nuts, apples, dairy etc. If these are not enough, you can turn to dietary supplements with vitamin D, which are under two forms: D2 - ergocalciferol (the same type that is found in food) or D3 - cholecalciferol (as obtained from sun exposure).
Sun and Non-Dairy Foods are your best sources. The A and O blood types do not digest milk well and so are poor sources of Vitamin D for them. A blood types should also avoid liver and beef.
If the A and O blood types do not digest milk well they should avoid it. There are a lot of good sources that people can use!
Informative post!
Glad you like it. I appreciate it.
I take a vitamin D supplement every day in the winter. In the summer I expose my skin to the sun for a short period every day.

Your welcome!
Probably means asthmatic patient should go out and swim in the sun more often.
I like your comment Ace: swimming in the sun more often!
Thank you. Personal survey on some people I know who have different kinds of pain/aches in different part of the body :- mostly doctors suggest them exercise and swimming is mostly the doctors' preferred suggestion. There must be some reason. My guess is it exercise all the different parts of the body.
I think swimming is the best exercise that a person can do because all the body muscles are working while swimming. That's why a lot of doctors suggest that swimming is very good for everyone!
I take vitamin D supplement year round. Being a redhead, the sun and my skin don't play nice together and I'm not a milk drinker. Interesting about it helping to prevent respiratory infections. That may help to explain part of how I brought chronic bronchitis under control for the last six years.
I'm not a milk drinker either.
Sorry to hear that man, I hope you find it helpful and now you know how to control it. Stay healthy man, cheers!
For the most part, I manage to stay pretty healthy. Haven't had need of a doctor or their prescriptions for about ten years.
That's very good, glad to hear that! Cheers @shadowspub!
