Why I Eat Spirulina and Chlorella Everyday Sometimes Twice

in #health7 years ago (edited)

It also helps with “Hang Overs”. I'm not usually one to take vitamin supplements but algae are a Super Food and a little different than most others.

I live alone and as much as I love cooking I hate cleaning dishes. So after I cook, the dishes usually sit there reminding me what had done a few days ago. So sweet of them. So I eat out a lot and get delivery or pick up more often than I used to back in Canada. Plus there is just so much delicious food I think is probably cheaper for me to eat out depending what I'm craving.

I do worry that I am not getting enough vitamins though. I know of two fellow expats here that have had some serious potassium deficiencies. Potassium is really under rated and can cause you to pass out suddenly, especially in a hot shower, something about the heat. Your heart will also stop beating without enough potassium. Spirulina has 95mg of Potassium per Gram on top of pretty much every other vitamin your body craves.

So I had got some of this kindly shipped to me by my father.

It absorbs toxins making them great for the day after a party. They replace all the vitamins and take out the crap you don't need and is probably harmful to you. By No Means Is This a Cure for Hang Overs but I do feel a bit better afterwards.

One gram of Spirulina is equivalent to one kilo of fruits and veggies. Great for helping lose weight too. Is it really a wonder why the United Nations is calling it the most important part of any diet especially in developing countries lacking a variety of nutritious foods?

So after a night of heavy drinking and I somehow manage to crawl out of bed the first thing I want to consume is water, right?

Just pop some of these vitamins and drink em down. Then you start brewing the coffee. By the time the coffee is brewed the vitamins and minerals in the algae will be absorbed and working hard to make you feel well again.

Tons of uses and medicinal uses. It can be eaten in foods by adding it to things you don’t cook, never cook it. Or in Smoothies which is quite popular with body builders because it’s 60% protein.

(all images unless otherwise stated I found fair and square on the internet.)

Give it a try. I promise it won't do you harm, it's food not a drug, all organic kind of like a vegetable.

What's your favourite Super Food??

We grow wheat grass and drink shots of it and we also grow sunflower seed sprouts!

I also take vitamin c and vitamin D3. With that combo I haven't had a cold or a flu in a long long time and nor has any member of my family.

Good old wheat grass. I wanted to grow some this past winter for myself and my cats. The only place I could find the seeds was a t a beauty shop using small packets to to market their soaps made with it. They would sell it to me. So i only got a a dozen seeds or so in a little advertising packet. I tried going back later and they said no. lol

I can't get it here either. I order it on line. 18 pounds for 2 kilos and another 18 pounds to ship it!

not big on taking vitamins anymore but algae are amazing. Gut health forever!

Yea. me too actually. I add dried cranberries to a lot of my snacks for the vitamin C so I don't really need anything else I don't already get from my diet.

Love these super foods!

Fully agree, been using spirulina for years. Though on the coffee side, i can recommend green coffee :))
Also, hangover wise, this works for me : BEFORE going to sleep, no matter how smashed you are, put half teaspoon maca powder, half teaspoon baobab fruit powder, half teaspoon turmeric and half ginger into a cup, add half cup yogurt and the other half water. mix, drink, wake up hangoverless. :D works like a charm because vitamins hydration and all the good stuff. Drink with moderation though :))

hmm. that'sa very interesting recipe for hang overs there. I will have to give that shot if I can find all the ingredients. How did you discover that? trial and error?

And good tip to drink in moderation. I have been binge drinking too much these past couple months.

Known of ginger and turmeric for years, discovered maca and baobab fruit powder recently. Decided to try mixing, worked for me. Try a small amount, see how it goes. You know your body better than anyone.

Interesting. cool discovery

Have really benefitted form this, take spirulina sporadically, and have never really looked into its broad benefits! Keep these posts coming! Will follow

Is use it as well , both spirulina and chlorella. I also use marine phtyoplankton . It is amazing stuff ! You should try it !

Do you take the tabs or add it to food? I have only tried the tabs but I;d like to add it to some dishes, I've seen a bunch of good looking foods with it online.

I use tabs , and the marine phytoplankton in powdershake

Seconding this. Assisted in research on spirulina as a bioregenerative greywater processing system and supplemental source of nutrition while I was at MDRS in Utah, it's the real deal. Tastes foul but the capsule coatings help hide that, just swallow them quickly, don't suck on 'em.

Really. That's cool stuff. yea I hear the dried stuff tastes pretty bad if its not added to food or in tab form. Tough have heard the raw fresh stuff is rather flavourless, so I heard, I'm hoping to cultivate my own supply, at home, after the summer. Will have posts about that as it goes along.

I have used it daily for years myself and it is truly amazing

smart! haha

Love my spirulina - take it everyday...nice post!

It's not the cook. Always the cleaning up that bothers people.
