CardioPulmonary Resuscitation: 5 Minutes Between the Heart Stopping and Death

in #health8 years ago (edited)

What's Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation?

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation is a method to restore cardiac function stops.

Why do we need to do Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation?

you all know that the function of the heart is to pump blood throughout the body. It serves to bring blood Oxygen and other nutrients to the cells of the body, so the body's cells do not die.
Essentially, in the case of heart function is stopped, the heart can not pump blood around the body, so we have to replace the function of the heart, by the heart's pumping manually. Because the heart of its position on the chest (between the sternum and spine), then we perform CPR chest compression.

As had been explained, the blood carries oxygen and nutrients to your cells. The most important thing was to BRAIN. If the brain is dead, then the whole body will die, .. Well, in the case of the heart stops, the victim will die within 5 MINUTES !!

Briefly huh? therefore it is necessary required to be giving first aid quickly!

How doing Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation?

Here is a little bit complicated. So read it slowly :

CardiaoPulmonary Resuscitation is part of the Basic Life Support (BLS). is procedure given starting on trauma victims / nontrauma. Well, BLS is a bit complicated to explain here friends, so I'll tell more practical,.
Essentially, if you meet with victims ALLEGED as cardiac arrest, you should doing the steps BLS.

Why do I say ALLEGED? Symptoms of cardiac arrest is chest pain, shortness of breath, sweating, vomiting, and loss of consciousness aka fainting. Well, similar symptoms can also occur by other diseases. However, BLS REMAIN do.

4 (Four)  Easy Steps doing BLS

1. Secure yourself, secure the victim, secure location

Always secure yourself (ask permission, wear gloves, face mask, etc.),
victim (move the victim out of the middle of the road to the pavement or to a safe place), and the location.

2. Check the awareness and ask for assistance

After secure, do check the patient's consciousness quickly. AVPU (Alert, Voice, Pain, unresponsive). In essence: if patients are seen unconscious, then try shaking the body of a patient.

Victims still did not wake up? Give pain stimuli on the victim by such methods as in the image below.

Victims still did not wake up? Means the victim is unconscious! Immediately call help

Calls can be done with the assistance requested help from people around or by calling an ambulance at 911.
When contacting the ambulance, it should be mentioned the name of the complainant, the location of victims, the number of victims, the name and sex of the victim if there is, the reported events (eg cardiac arrest or an accident), the action to be performed, and a reporting phone number to be contacted by ambulance.

3. Perform Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation

1. Position kneeling beside the patient, arms and shoulders perpendicular to the patient's body

 Do as the following image

2. clench hand, put your hands in the middle of the patient's sternum (between the nipples)

source

3. Press the patient's chest and give artificial breathing

Pressure is done by STRONG (5-6 cm deep), FAST (100 - 120x / min), let the chest inflates perfectly before you push again, and should not be disturbed!

ATTENTION! Artificial respiration?

If you have the equipment to doing artificial breathing (eg face mask), then you can give artificial breathing. Resuscitate given 2 times every 30 times of chest compressions. Giving artificial breathing is done by tilting the head and lifting the chin while attention to the patient's chest

However, artificial breathing NO NEED given if you do not have equipment for endangering yourself

In essence, do chest compressions continue indefinitely until the patient is awake

4. The recovery position

Once the patient is able to breathe normally, it is necessary to do the recovery position. The purpose is keep the airway open and reduce the risk of choking. The trick is to lift his hands up, bend the left leg victim, bend the left arm under his head, and tilt the victim in the right direction.

Do not forget to check the condition of the victim every 5 minutes

In addition, CPR can be stopped if it comes helper more experts, given the defibrillator paddles, rescuers fatigue, or the victim is dead

To facilitate understanding, here I include video UPDATE LATEST how CPR by the American Heart Association,
please watch only 2 minutes

So this is my explanation of Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation.

Remember, this action is very important and can save the victim in the last 5 minutes of his life.
Maybe this is not easy, so do not hesitate to ask questions or by taking part in training!

Thank you all, may be useful
