THE BIG BAD CAVITY-Tips for a healthy tooth

Ever had a cavity or toothache?
Yes?...Did it hurt?
Some of us have experienced severe toothache..you know the ones that come with banging headaches and so much discomfort. Before I proceed...what is a cavity?

A cavity is a soft area in a decayed tooth. For better understanding, a cavity is a hole that grows bigger and deeper over time.
Wondering how this happens?....here is how;

1. Plaque(a sticky substance made from leftover food particles and saliva) clings to the teeth if one does not brush properly after meals and builds up over time. Plaques contain bacteria.
2. These bacteria make acids that eats away the outermost layer of the tooth called the enamel.
   
3. If not treated, it continues to the inner parts of the tooth all the way to nerve endings causing toothache. Painful right?
   Cavities can be repaired but I'm sure no one wants them. So, here's how to avoid them;
4. Brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
5. Eat nutritious and balanced meals and avoid snacking.
6. Reduce intake of sweets and sugary drinks.
7. See your dentist twice a year for dental checkups...(very important)
   A healthy teeth equal a happy smile.
