Low Blood Pressure - The struggle is real today
I've been feeling like the walking almost dead today. I felt ok in the morning, but after lunch I started to feel like my head was underwater. I recognized the feeling right away as hypotension and got myself a cup of soup. The sodium and the liquid usually is a quick fix for my low blood pressure and I can go on with my day. Today was different though. For some reason the soup didn't help. My head still felt all cloudy. Finally when I was able to get home I took my blood pressure at home and got a much lower number then I have seen in a long time.

I'm currently gulping another cup of soup and I'm already feeling a little bit better. Because my body doesn't process fluids like everyone else's, I also have to be careful not to drink too much and have my blood pressure go the other way. It's a delicate balance that I've tried to master over the years, but it seems like today my body is not cooperating.

STOPYour dialysis sessions could be efficient in taking out many water soluble nutrients like sodium which if low enough could make your BP low as well and coupled with headaches. Perfect to indulge on gravies and slurpees from 7-Eleven ha ha.
I am confident that you can handle your BP @lizzyib but that's quite very low 80/53.

It definitely could of been a sodium issue. The soup eventually did help, but usually it only takes one soup. I'm not sure if it was a fluke or not but if it keeps happening I will ask for sodium ramping on the machine or maybe a weigh adjustment. I'll also have some yummy salty foods if need be :)
If they over do the sodium on the machine you will get thirsty LOL.
I had experienced to see that on some patients with a low blood pressure before dialysis,they ramp up the sodium just for the blood pressure not to go down further and to raise it and for them also to draw out water from the patient.
The result after, the patient goes thirsty.
If my blood pressure was that low before treatment they wouldn't even dialyze me. Sodium ramping would be my last resort.
Here during dialysis when the patients blood is going low they would set the sodium to raise the blood pressure.
They would do the opposite when the patient's BP goes high.

I am no rocket scientist but it appears that you may have autonomic nervous system dysfunction. There is much that can be done. You may want to google ANS dysfunction Vanderbilt. There is extensive information on it there.
I appreciate your no rocket scientist diagnosis, but this is a case of a fluid imbalance as a side effect of hemodialysis. I probably have to adjust my dry weight if it continues to be a problem. Thanks for the comment!
Ive been having high BP lately, a new problem :/. Are you able to take vitamins or supplements?
I don't think so. It's a just a matter of balancing fluid and sodium. If I drink too much I have high blood pressure, if I don't get enough fluid it goes low.
